In my experience (having had three) at a given price they are all pretty much the same--but like most things "If you buy the cheapest there is, there is a very good chance you will get 'the cheapest there is'..."

Were I in the market I"d look at Ryobi @ Home Depot, good warranty (3 years for non-commercial use, MUCH better than HF's 90 days), and parts are actually and readily available through HD or online (unlike HF"s crap, they give you a parts diagram and list, but good luck getting parts from them)--and if there is a problem you Home Depot's customer support is head and shoulders above HF's (their store managers know they sell crap, and refunds come out of their bonuses) . ..

Costco is another option. Lifetime warranty.

^^^Read that "lifetime warranty" very carefully to determine exactly what is covered...

I bought this one from Lowe's about 2 years ago I think.

Not a bad little PW. I did buy their extended warranty and had to use it within 6 months to get a replacement, no questions asked. It was on sale when they replaced it, so the money I would have gotten back I just used to extend the warranty again. The PW only gets used on vehicles and works great with a foam cannon. It does OK on the house and concrete but since it's electric, finding a plug or messing with extension cords can get annoying.

I just bought basically the same pressure washer from Lowes and it seems to be pretty decent. It did great with the foam cannon and even did really well cleaning our concrete walkway. I haven't tried it on the house, but we are going to get some cleaner to use as well for that. It has plenty of power for what we need it for and it was only $180 after tax.

When buying a washer for home and auto use be sure to avoid washers with detergent containers. You don’t want to use chemicals for cleaning your home/exterior then turn around and wash your truck.

If you need something like that get a cheap electric washer for the truck and s nice gas one for home projects.

Ill hang around for some knowledge gaining. I wanted to buy a PW last year, but didn't have a clue what to get, and got overwhelmed at the options.

    I did, too.

Got tired of trying to "figure it all out" and bought at 1,500psi electric from Walmart for about $70 and bought an aftermarket "no-kink" 20' hose from Amazon.

It's worked okay so far, however, when I wear it out and replace it....I'm going with something stronger....at least a 2,000psi.

Have had great luck with the Ryobi 1600 PSI electric pressure washer picked up from Home Depot. I did purchase the warranty plan but have never had an issue with it. This is my backup pressure washer when using my gas powered pressure washer is against HOA or building rules. I got a client of mine in trouble for using a gas powered model due to the noise level it generated while detailing his Ferrari. Super ritzy neighborhood with lots of HOA rules

Do you have a decent air compressor?

If so, they make attachements (wands) that go to your compressor hose that receive a garden hose. And away you go.

One thing I'll say after buying new black truck......I didn't have to time to wait and ponder the best unit to get.

I needed to get up and running immediately on keeping the beast clean and found the regular garden hose nozzle to be insufficient and I certainly wanted to avoid hand washing until I could be assured of getting all the crud off first.

Getting the budget model electric 1,500psi got me in the game quickly and the $14 foam cannon attachment (Amazon) with the Chemical Guys Black Car Kit was great. Weekly foam cannon soaks followed by the pressure washer 15 degree nozzle get it clean enough. Sometimes I'll repeat the process while sipping a cold beer or two. Mighty relaxing. :headbang:

Once a month or so, I'll do a hand wash. This involves a standard home wash with my electric + foam cannon and then stopping off at the local d-i-y car wash and using their high-pressure-rinse wand and really try to knock down the stubborn stuff.....returning home and then hitting it again with foam cannon and letting it soak even longer. Then and only then will I'll got to the bucket method and hand wash. I'm trying my damndest to not get swirl marks from unseen clinging debris on the truck.

Using the wax and sealant that came with the kit after doing the home + local d-i-y + home wash really keeps the beast looking sharp.

It sounds like a lot of work, but it's really not bad. I do it on days off and enjoy doing it while having something great smoking on the grill and some cold suds flowing. Cheap hobby that yields a nice benefit. :mudding:

When I can get the funds freed up to justify it....I'll get a stronger unit so I can skip the trip to the local car wash. One of the adjustable gas models that was posted earlier in this thread may be the absolute ticket.

I also highly recommend Chemical Guys soaps. They flow great through the foam cannon and you can leave them on there for 10-15 mins and let the bubbles really work on loosening up the debris. PH balanced so you can do so in the full on bright sunshine and not worry at all about water spots afterwards. Well worth the money. Catch their stuff on their frequent 25%+ sales and it really makes it worth it.

If budget is not a option then go with a Krenzel.

If you want a Kranzle, go through Detailers Domain when they run a sale. I bought mine from them about 4 years ago and has been one of my best purchases.
