I am stuck between getting the TRD Sport or Off Road.

Other than towing a boat through some rough roads to/from a ramp, will be doing very little off-roading. However, I keep all my vehicles for 10+ years, and wondering if the limited slip and beefier suspension in the Off Road will make it more durable in the long run?

Also, if I put all-season tires on the off-road, would it ride the same, or maybe better, than the Sport?

Thank you in advance. So far no dealer has been able to help me with this?

    Let me simplify it.

You want a rear locker or no?

    I chose off-road.

    Locker for the win!

    I'm here for the memes
All seasons tires will ride the same as stock tire with just a tad bit of road noise. If you wanna go minimal off-road do the sport. If you want to go full off-road do the TRD off-road.

    Price?
I personally think the locker is a better deal than a scoop at similar cost.

For your needs either will suffice equally. Get whichever you like better honestly.

They have the same exact MSRP, in my humble opinion the Off Road is a better deal for the money.

I happen to think the OR looks better, with the flat hood, black plastic flares, color contrast etc.

Toyota seems to think the Sport is better looking but to me it's too monochrome and the scoop does nothing for me.

Even if you don’t off-road, I think a rear locker is worth it if you tow. Any steep, slippery hills, or even a boat ramp— it could come in handy at times.

    Welcome to TW!

    Off Road will give you:
    -Rear locker
    -ATRAC off road traction control
-Electronically boosted brakes to support ATRAC, AKA more braking power
    -Hill start assist (automatic)
    -Hill decent control (automatic)
-Roll side curtain airbag disable for heavy off camber trails
    -Softer off road suspension
    -Lighter swaybar
    -Chrome rear bumper
    -Standard hood
    -16" wheels

    Sport gives you:
    -Firmer street sport suspension
    -Heavier swaybar
    -Body matched rear bumper
    -Scooped hood
    -17" wheels

You get a lot more functionality from the Off Road. The cosmetics of the sport are far easier to swap than the functionality of the Off Road. Pick what is important for your needs.

Like some have said, all you really need is sport. Especially if you are planning to keep it for the long haul, but do very little off-roading.

Remember, more feature = more stuff to maintain = more expensive stuff to break.

It is true that MSRP are the same for both, but it also depends on the market value. My area is big in off-roading/mudding. The sport is under MSRP (around 35-36k) cause no one here really wants them. The off-road on the other hand is getting bought as soon as it hits the lot (around 39-40k). The prices for both are for 4x4.

    Nice comprehensive comparison list!
Sounds like someone has been doing their home work to upgrade perhaps?:boink:
AFAIK, sport doesn't come with "body matched grill"?:notsure:

Like there is an upgrade from the supercharged 4.0. :burnrubber:

My bad on the grill, was thinking 2nd gen mindset with the grill surround.

I was just going to post that, they both have the same Grille. Seems like most of us swap it out for a Pro Grille anyways.
