I'm getting a high clearance off-road bumper soon and will need to remove the rear bumper and trailer hitch since the new bumper comes with a low profile trailer hitch as well. Looks like the factory trailer hitch setup has all of the bolts welded tight so I can't remove them. When removing the factory rear bumper, will the factory trailer hitch come off as well?

    Anybody done this?

    A few things
Yes it can come off in one piece. If you look at where it mounts to the frame it's fairly obvious what needs to be unbolted. Make sure you have a friend close by, it's not so much heavy but awkwardly weighted.

i know, old thread. but doing the same thing. i found a buyer for the old hitch, but not the bumper yet. is the hitch able to come off and stock bumper able to be remounted until i get it sold? anything spacers or something i would need to put the stock bumper back on without the hitch?

The bumper should bolt right back up with no spacers needed.
