When you replace a bulb style light with NEO4 LED like these from SuperBright LED's https://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/instrument-cluster-gauge/filter/Base_Type,NEO4,1,5030: In a factory switch such as the hazard switch. The bulb comes in from the side. The NEO4 light pattern is narrow and doesn't light up the front of the switch. To fix this problem I tweaked the bulb a little. Here's how I did it.
Mark the bulb base as to which way you need it to shine before removing it. Then unwind the little wires and slide the LED out of a housing a little. Twist the bulb over just a little. Then rewrap the wires around the base.

    hotspots be damned!

got any pics of original vs modified?

I wish there were other LED options for the NEO4 but can't really find any quality ones out there.

I did this exact same thing! I was annoyed by the fact that the LEDs didn't have a dome on them to disperse the light. On a few I actually cut out the side of the rubber/plastic and put the LED diode down flush with it. You just have to make sure it's going to line up where you want it before you cut.
