    I tend to agree with you but pictures are confusing online. Also, I cant seem to find any 4runner inserts anywhere but Tacoma inserts are everywhere!

    that base plate will provide no assistance on hard ground because those corners will slip, that's 4 very small points of surface area on the ground.

    Just about any metal base plate will slip worse than the standard hi-lift base on a hard surface.
