Hey guys, I just picked up a 2013 Baja and I don't know what's taken me so long! I love the truck but cant seem to figure out why my dome light doesn't come on at all when in "door" mode on the switch. it comes on manually turned to "On" but none of the doors make the dome light come on. I cant imagine all the door switches are sticky or bad, I messed with them and made sure they were all the way out.. I took apart the dome light and made sure the contacts were good and making contact. the fuse and bulb are obviously good as the dome light comes on when put in the on position. in all the research I did on here and other places, I didn't see this specific issue. any ideas?

also, I hate that the truck automatically locks itself 30 seconds after unlocking it even though opening a door etc... I know its a first world problem, having to hit the key fob a couple of times to get my kids out of the truck. Is this just something I have to live with?

thanks in advance, and awesome forum.

You can look on YouTube for a video on how to take the auto alarm off. It's easy. I did mine, but I don't remember the exact way.. Welcome to TW!!

Look for a switch n the dome light above your head. It is a three position switch" Always on, Always off or On when door opens. This is different than the courtesy lights that are above the windshield. I also would like to know how to turn off the auto lock function IF there is a way.

Neither my '04 nor my '13 do that. If I press the remote unlock and *don't* open the door within 30 sec, yes, they will re-lock.

But if the door is opened, it won't auto re-lock.

    Am I misunderstanding your issue?

As far as the lights go, are you speaking of the light above the mirror, or the one on the ceiling of the cab?

The one above the mirror does not come on with the doors, and the one on the ceiling does (should), when the 'door' position is selected.

There is a mod where you can tie the front lamps to the ceiling dome and have them all come on with the door. Cheap, easy, nice results. I think I can dig that up if that interests you.

I intend to do this mod and have some LEDs on the way from a local vendor on here.

I'm not referring to the map lights near the rearview mirror, the actual light on the ceiling.

sounds like something with the aftermarket alarm has caused it to where it cant tell if a door is open or not.

Does the dash light for door open ever light up? (yes there is an actual light for this)

    For grins....

    Roll down the windows.

    Get out of truck

    Set alarm

Reach in and pull the inside handle to open the door.
    Does alarm go off?

Just wondering if ur alarm will even work now.

I would have to guess that the issue is with the switch itself (the switch on the light that you can change from off to on to door). Have you taken that apart?

Naw something bigger. If his truck is auto locking after 30 seconds its never seeing ANY doors open at all, because thats what the system is doing it goes oh you never opened a door after you unlocked your truck i am going to relock as it was likely a mistake that you pushed the button.

OP again, Does the dash light for door ajar ever light up with any door open?

That makes a whole hell of a lot of sense. The truck doesn’t see the doors open. No light on the dash when I open the door

Maybe somebody unplugged the door switches to silence the dinger.

Looks like a body ECU Problem. The doors all have separate inputs to the ECU.

sorry! I dropped off the face of the earth! the issue is still there but after a sheep hunt this weekend where I was bouncing around on some very rough roads now the dome light comes on when I open the door occasionally. other times it doesn't and the original issue is still there. what worries me about it just coming on from time to time is that I have wiring gremlins... I guess I will start chasing wires.
