South Carolina BS thread under new MANAGEMENT and lives in SC

Nope not I'm my hood. No HOA I have a 12x24 work shop that my son and I ran power to from the main box in the garage. We did all the wiring ourselves then had an electrician connect up both the boxes for me, being certified an all ya know

My biggest worry would be wiring everything up and then someone reads the meter and sees the wiring, then decides I can't have the old Greenwood rate anymore. $25 power bills are going to kick ass this summer.

 

We went straight in the house breaker box with 100amp breaker. Buried the lines in conduit then up into the shop and into the back of garage wall in main box not the meter outside.

 

I have an electrician at my house now, he said they usually would only require an extra meter if the the building was much larger. Larger than a 2 stall garage type building. Maybe it has to do with your crazy low rates being grandfathered in or something, and newer stuff requires a new rate

 

I'm thinking about how I would do something like @OCD 08 posted. Out of sight, out of mind! Would probably have to get an electrician to hook everything up at the breaker box, though.

 

Not that I trust them, but the news says we pay the highest rates here in sc (their reasons are probably bullshit, but) and there is a reason for this...............so think outside the box if you can!

As long as you have a spare place in your breaker box or an outside main breaker you should be able to do it without even notifying Duke.
