Price for a new paint job?

Anyone have an idea what it would cost for a completely new paint job on my 2003?

I have no idea what the price range is.

 

There are actually quite a few factors in determining that.

First is the amount of prep work. If you want old paint stripped, need dents repaired, molding removed vs taped off, etc.

Second is the quality of the paint job. Maaco will do a cheap one for under $500. I've also been quoted over $2k from another place, which after looking at their other work, I wasn't too impressed. Then there's also different types of paints which will all change the costs. (like the multi-toned paints)

There's also painting the inside. If you're using the same color and inside the door frame is still in good condition, you may or may not want to get the inside painted as well, but if you do, you'll need to get the interior molding and carpet all stripped out as well.

So, there really isn't a good cut and dried answer to your question that I've been able to find from my own experience.

I'm still stuck in the part where I'm saving up to get it done.

 

I just got a quote to have our corvette painted.... $6,000+



Needless to say, I'm still shopping around.

hey, my 89 excab toyota 4x4 was for 2000 at a local chevy dealer and they did a awesome job.the more stuff u take off like bumpers ,trim,etc.makes it cheaper .good luck

 

A friend of mine had his ford cougar race car painted. Fiberglass body, no trim to be removed.... $24,000!

 

The two biggest questions to ask are:
1. What do you plan on doing with the truck after painting.
2. Will you be keeping it the same color.

I will assume that you are keeping it the same color and that you want a sharp looking daily driver, If you plan on removing the simple things yourself, headlights, tail lights, bumpers and badges then 4K should get you a nice paint job. This would include removing minor dings with no major dents.

 

It won't cost that much for a tacoma. Corvettes are made with fibreglass and are treated differently. Besides...that quote was if they removed EVERYTHING which sucks up a lot of labor.

Shop around.....
If you want a professional job that's show quality (for instance), it'll cost a good bit but it'll be sweet.

If you're not worried about show quality and just want something that's better than what you got now......it won't cost as much.

Just be careful. You don't want a shoddy job either. You want it to last.
Shop around for reviews & reputation of certain shops.

 

My friend's dad runs a dealership out of their backyard(huge 5 acre lot) with a mechanic and painter on site. The Painter just told me to buy paint and he'll do it for free. I have a friend at school that was taking a body and collision class(graduated) that would also do the same deal..
So I guess what I'm saying is, Come to AZ for a hook up or find painting friends.lol Good Luck Man!
