I checked and called several dealers and on line for the aluminum TOYOTA oil filter housing #15620-31060 and it's for a Lexus, no Tacoma listed? Anybody got one from the dealer that works and what's the part number?

Was thinking about changing oil myself but gave my local dealer a shot. T.O Toyota did a good job.

Sorry to hear of your losses. My worry is that I have been doing it barehanded for over 50 years. I use gloves now.

That's a really dumb judgement to make. Gloves are really handy for taking that immediate mess and making it go away once you're done without wasting a rag. Even when you wipe oil off your hands, it still gets things slick when you go to do things like, turn your ignition on to check pressure. Being a slob doesn't make you experienced, just like being clean doesn't make you inexperienced.

I use the WIX 51348 which has 21 cu in of filter vs 17 on the stock canister. Same filter called out for 2nd generation.

Yes this is true, we will all die. Most of us hope to go out peacefully. I am sure you might of known someone either family, friends or acquaintances who might of passed of cancer. I work in a hospital and unfortunately have to see people deal with the aftermath of cancer closely. I still remember this male in his late 40s who was diagnosed with skin cancer. The cancer spread to his mouth/esophagus which unfortunately caused the tissue in his mouth/throat to slough off. He was constantly spitting blood and had to rinse his mouth with lidocaine suspension to numb the pain. He was unable to eat or speak because of the pain. I am not sure what happened to him, I would guess he received a feeding tube through his nose or perhaps a feeding tube though his abdomen. Or maybe he received his nutrients through an IV. My best guess is he slowly and painfully died from failure to thrive.

Edit: And medical bills are $$$$$

I work at a huge dealer and probably only 2 guys undo that drain cock. Most just loosen it off, let it drip then remove.

The drain is for preventing mess, works best at home, not many dealer techs touch it.

Hold your horses there Doctor...if it causes cancer in animals, I think I'll take the "non-manly" way out and two seconds to put on gloves.

That, and it's just a plain pain in the ass to clean oily hands.

Using personal protective equipment is just common sense. You would not want to crawl under a rusty vehicle without some form of eye protection, handle sharp metal without leather gloves, breathing protection in a Spray booth, Ear Protection in or around constant loud noise, or steel toed boots in an industrial area.
