Has anyone had any experience with one of these?
I did a search and couldn't find anything.

I have one; not sure which one I bought to be honest. It works well, but the cable on that side has gotten a little chewed up. There's not a lot of room for both the cable and the strut. It works though.

I don't think this company makes one for the Tacoma tailgate. I do have this on my F150 which is a very heavy tailgate with the step and camera, and it works very well. Only problem I have had is the blind nut they use broke after 5+ years of use/abuse, but was easy to replace and still functions great. I have had it for 8 years so far.

Thanks guys. Amazon is good about returns, if I order one that doesn't fit.

Thanks, I just added it to my cart. Good price as well. Funny how they put one on the glove box, but not the tailgate.

I bought one because I sleep in the bed and close the tailgate behind me, Kind of awkward to let the tailgate down when you wake up in the morning, much nicer to just pop the latch and let it coast down with one of these.

There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews on eBay, with cable clearance issues. I think I'm still going to give it a try.

I think the EZ Down posted above is what I bought. There are some issues with the cable as I noted above, but it’s more of an annoyance than a hindrance. I’m still happy with it.

Is it possible to use two of these and remove the cables?

I wouldn't do that. Those gas struts are made to assist, not to be a structural entity.
