I'm looking to order some new speakers for my 2010 access cab. I was originally planning to get the Infinity Primus component speaker set because they look like a pretty good value for the money but I just noticed that crutchfield has Focal ISS 165's heavily discounted right now.

Does anybody have any experience with either of these? Any recommendations to go one way or the other?

I plan on running this with the stock headunit until I can replace it later this year, I don't have any intention of installing an amplifier. I'm wondering if the Focals woudl be worth it without an amp? Would I notice the difference?

I have primus component 6.5 in my back doors and they sound great. Refrence component up front and they match well. Couldnt say about not having an amp though, I doubt the rms would be enough without one.

I was pleased with the focal ISS 690 in my 2015 access cab.. I just recently upgraded to a 2020 Off road and moved them to the new truck.. Still pleased with them/ As this was a 4 door I also picked up a pair of Focal 165 AC's for the rear doors.. In both installs they were being driven with a rockford fosgate P1000X5 amp. If you can give them a little juice you will be very impressed with the sound.

@maverick42 -- trust me.. anything you can get will sound better than stock..They are the most god awful stock speakers I have ever seen in a vehicle.

I’ve been running the Primus for the last few years and they’re pretty good. Definitely a great bang for your buck. Would definitely recommend for a good budget option.

I’ve been more impressed by other speakers but if I remember right I only paid about $80 for them so no complaints.

I know I'm getting older and less fussy about stereo equipment but the OEM speakers in these things are FAR from the worst I've ever heard.

When the "tweeter" has a larger magnet than the 6x9.. it's certainly not a good start. not to mention the amount of "detuning" that goes on to give them the ability to produce sound at a reasonable volume.. I get it.. they (all car manufacturers) cut costs where they can but the stock speakers really are a joke.
