Wait so they gave you a new truck vs one with 49k for nothing?

What do you think my truck was worth? With 49k on it.

Yup! I'm not sure where they made money on the deal. I don't think my old Tacoma with 49k on it was worth the $28,000 they gave for the trade.

You'd be surprised. While I was shopping for my 4Runner I came across a LOT of used Toyota 4x4's listed at (or above!) MSRP of brand new trucks. It didn't make any damn sense to me. It's very likely that they'll be able to turn around and sell your truck for close to new price. They're betting with some surety that they'll make at least a couple thousand on it. Also, don't forget that dealerships LOVE financing, which makes them money. Lastly, the more sales and turnover a dealership has, the more bonuses and incentives they can receive from Toyota.

Thank you guys for the help and info.

I did find the other thread about pricing so have been following that and prepping for now I want to deal with the dealers .

Decided to invest a little in my old Tacoma to polish it up and either sell private or trade it in.

Hope to post a new truck on here soon .

I don't think we have all the details here. He already made a years worth of payments. So if they financed the new truck again he's restarting the loan at $36k or whatever number they ended up financing for. Perhaps OP can chime in.

I made a year worth of payments yes. I got the new truck at 0% so I do not have interest. I got a lower payment and new truck so I was cool with it.

Anytime there is a discussion about pricing and someone knows what the payment is, but not so much how much they paid, the dealer is doing just fine.
