Just got a CB radio and it has a setup where it can run a pa (public announcement) speaker with it. Does anyone have a clue where I can get a small speaker for the engine bay/ front grill of my truck that has decent sound output?

Sidenote: I work in law enforcement and SAR so it would be cool to have this capability with my truck. It is not so I can cat call, road rage, or scream at deer standing in the middle of the road.

Check the manual of your CB....usually you need a speaker that will handle either 4 or 10 watts from the pa jack on the cb.

speakers that draw power directly from the CB are quite disappointing in volume, ie gotta yell to hear it over the engine at anything above idle.

Amplified speakers are what you want. Only difference is they have a power and ground connection in addition to the audio jack plug.

I haven't run a PA speaker with a CB in 20 years, so I couldn't recommend one at this point...

It takes nearly two hours to mount the speaker neatly out of site, then another hour to run the wires to the cab, removing door seal trim then lifting up the carpet to get the wire to where the CB Chassis is mounted and then it’s fun for about 5 minutes until your child says “Dad you’re stupid.”

And I haven’t spoken through my PA mode in two years.

But maybe tomorrow when I let her out at school I’ll yell “I LUUUUUUV YOUUUU” when she gets out just to get a reaction
