I agree, I hate how Ford does their 'packages'. What I realized with the F150, if I were to build one, I'd be spending just over $3k for just the payload package, the tow package, tow mirrors and brake controller. Or... I can just buy ANY 3/4 ton and it'll basically come standard with all that. It will also allow me to look used. I'd be really, really, really hard pressed to find a low mileage used F150 with the payload package but I can easily find 3/4 ton trucks.

The wife won't have any issues - when parking, just back it up until the car behind you moves and pull forward a foot.

With all the sharks and the constant needing to repair the seawall every year? I'll take Dennis anyday over it haha. But I am bias as every summer while I grew up I was down there for 90% of it.

Back when I worked construction we were doing a demo job and I had to spend a week driving a 5.4 F250 with a dump body on the back. Even when it was empty it was a slug; you'd put your foot down for a hill with that thing and it'd make more noise but nothing else really happened for about 10-15 seconds. When it was loaded forget it; just put your foot down and pray that it wasn't that long of a grade  The 6.2's are definitely better motors for a heavy truck, but really nothing compares with the torque you get from a diesel.

The Ram 6.4's apparently are good for 17-19 on the highway if you keep it around 70 or less, but apparently anything above that and the MDS can't cope and keeps jumping back to 8 cylinder mode and drops you down around 14. Not surprising, though, considering it's a 3 1/2 ton truck with the aerodynamics of a container ship.

Again though, the way Ford packages their options, once you select the heavy payload option, you can't get the sport package on the XLT. If you don't get the payload package and just want that sport look, it's a $4k option with all the other bullshit they make you buy along with it. I just wanted an XLT with the sport grille but I'm not paying $4k for a damn grille.

I typically go up to Coast Guard beach. 25 years ago, my parents bought their 'retirement' house and when I'd be in the water, I'd be watching the walkers go up and down the sand. Not anymore... Scan the waterline keeping an eye peeled for a fin...

haha the 5.4 was good for a few things, burning through 40 gallons of gas in 200 miles, making noise, and breaking down. We've loaded up 4k on the bed and its handled it pretty decently. The 6.2 does make a much better noise though haha

I've heard a lot of good things about the Rams 6.4, and that would make sense the cylinder deactivate system can't figure out it shouldn't be kicking on above 70mph. I noticed that with the Chevy 5.3L, had the same issue it would kick on and off and it ended up burning more fuel then just leaving the system off

That's how they park in Boston! Except, they won't even do you the courtesy of pulling forward. They'll get out and leave their vehicle with the bumper still tight against the car behind it. Driving around the city, damn near every car you see has scarred up bumpers.

I want the sport pack mainly cause it blacks all the chrome out, you get the bucket seats, and a few other things.. lame I know but I just like the looks of the sport pack. With that new 3.0 diesel coming I would prefer to go that way but its Lariat or above to get it. We could try to order through fleet sales to get it in the XLT but idk depends on total cost.

I do agree Fords packages can get super annoying

I sailed from the cape to OOB last year. First time I had been there, pretty cool minus the lobster trap/highflyer maze to navigate at night. Plenty of Frat boys and party scene all day. I can’t even imagine the Fourth of July. I bet you can get drunk via osmosis if your on the main drag.

At least you can avoid most of the traffic when you come in from the water

I don't think I ever did see anything in the news about that boat.

This has been floating around in my head for weeks if not months now. I love my tacoma don’t get me wrong but I have looking hard at full sizes. Mainly the F150 with the 2.7 because I have always favored Fords our of the big 3.

This is really my dilemma. I drive 100 miles each way to work everyday. I average about 15mpg or less with the winter mix and heavy foot(willingly admit that). A few times a week I am sleeping in my truck because of overtime shifts. Driving this much in the tacoma is just really not that comfortable and I am SO sick of having to fill up every day. It takes about 3/4 maybe a little less to get to work and back. Plus the wife and I are trying to start a family and I feel like there really isn’t going to be enough space. Not sure what to do but it’s kind of been driving me crazy

Husky Weatherbeaters, OEM Mud Guards, Wheel Well Liners, Bullet Spray-In Bed Liner, Gator Soft Tri-Fold Cover, Hankook DynaPro AT2 (Summer), Blizzak DM-V2 (Winter)
All the ones on lots had stupid options like navigation (why would I want that when it has Android Auto?), $1000 wheels, but somehow lacked a bedliner or tow package.

I optioned mine for a lower MSRP than the ones on lots but with the options I actually wanted.

I couldn't justify the 5.0. Mileage was worse, need to rev it higher to make torque, the 2.7 just made the most sense to me.

We have an F350 4x4 SRW at work. I think it's an '08, and it has the 5.4. It's mostly used for plowing or for the landscaping guys to bring mowers between buildings. I've driven it a few times to pick up big things, and it's a pig for sure. But, you tower over absolutely everything on the road so it's fun!

Yup, I wanted an XLT Sport 302a with the Power Equipment Package on it. Once you do that you can't get HD payload. But, I'd rather have the heated seats, larger screen, etc. over the lower trim XLTs. I think it was right around 4k more to get a loaded XLT vs a base XLT.

Lariats get expensive. I figured out quick that I wouldn't be able to afford anything past a base Lariat, and that I could get a loaded XLT for less money with more of the stuff I wanted than a base Lariat had. Lariat did have some nice things like auto 4WD and homelink, but I've gone without auto 4WD for this long and I can just buy Lariat visors for my XLT if I really decide I want the homelink buttons. I am not even crazy about leather. I really like heated cloth, which is what my XLT will have.

I was originally thinking of waiting to check out the Ranger but got antsy and found a nearly perfect match Tacoma and jumped on it. I'm so glad i made that move because now I don't have to deal with it having all of the Toyota Sense bullshit
