I've posted before in other threads. My 2.7 RC 4X4 has almost 169,000 miles on it. So far it has had 4 batteries. The first 3 were all Toyota batteries with the first one replaced under warranty. This last one is an Interstate Megatron. The water pump was replaced at around 60,000 miles under warranty. It's had one brake job at 60,000 miles and at 168,000+ the brakes are still good.

I replaced both outer tie-rod ends back around 150,000 miles. Only one had a VERY small amount of play but I replaced both. I've replaced all the suspension which ran me just over $2000 and replaced the steering gear bushings with urethane from Energy suspension. The suspension is a known problem with Tacos so that doesn't really count since it sucks from the factory and anyone that does their research knows that before they even buy a Taco with stock suspension. The difference between stock suspension, especially at 154,000 miles and an aftermarket suspension is huge. I did use Deaver J59 leaf springs but the rest is all OME and the OME I installed is really something to write home about compared to the factory stuff. I can see Kings or ICON's in the future the next time around though. The OME is harsh but it's a truck so I can't really complain. OME is designed for carrying heavy loads off road which I never do and I knew that before I bought it. So far? I have no complaints with the OME and I've got about 15,000 miles on it.

I don't know about the newer Taco's but my 2004 is about as maintenance free as any vehicle on the planet. I actually have to dream up things to do on it. However, this next summer I will begin stockpiling parts such as an alternator, starter, water pump, and will be replacing rubber hoses as well as vacuum lines just to keep it as reliable as it already is and also to know I have parts "on hand" rather than waiting for them since this is my only ride at this point in time. The local Toyota dealer talked me out of buying parts in the past because they said, "that part is good for the life of the vehicle". So far, they have been right. Well, what is "the life of the vehicle"? Rubber ages. It's that simple so rubber parts replaced by urethane parts if they are available are on the menu for the future when I need them.

I bought my Taco used from my dad at 119,000 miles so I have a pile of maintenance receipts for this Taco. I know exactly what maintenance has been done on it and it was always done by the book since new. Yeah, I got a deal for $5000. That being said, these Tacoma's are ultra reliable and, from what I have read, they still are to this day. I worked with a guy who had 385,000 miles on his Tundra and bought another Tundra because he was going to give the last one to his kid.

237K on my 2000 2.7 AT. Pretty much everything is factory, except the plugs/wires, front brake pads/rotors, some belts, hoses, and fluids. Replaced the valve cover gasket awhile back.

Best vehicle I have ever owned. Wish they still made them this small.

I've got 221k on a 2000 2.7L 4x4 MT . It has 1 cylinder with compression below spec, but it drives the same as the day I got it. I never would have known if I didn't test it out of curiosity. It almost makes me more confident in the truck. It sees a good amount of off road and has had all the suspension replaced with OME front and rear plus new tire rods, bushings, etc

    Nice little setup

Forgive my naivete, by "tire rods" do you mean tie rods? I ask not to be a smart ass, but I'm pretty newb in all honesty and am going to be replacing most front end stuff on mine. Just want to make sure I'm not missing another component.

Yes exactly. Once of those situations where a typo creates a different work entirely. I meant Tie Rods

I can't believe I haven't posted here before. Some of you might recognize my some some of you won't. My 09 2.7 4x4 5spd access cab is currently sitting around 260k km or 161.5k miles. This is by far and I mean far the best vehicle I have ever owned. The only real issues this truck has had were ones ive created. I know the truck had it's front wheel bearings and brakes replaced at the dealership before I bought it. I bought it used with 93000 miles on it. I've since done the fronts once more last year, the clutch is factory as far as I know. Recently I replaced the blower motor resistor. It's had the clock spring recall done and that's it. I've replaced the suspension twice but that was my doing and I rebuilt the front end last year again my doing. Nothing else has gone bad.

It never had one. I did buy a 3 year drivetrain one from the dealer but it was a condition of sale.
