OEM Tube Step Pad Removal

i have a 2017 that came with OEM tube steps in chrome. I want to have the sprayed with Linex to Black them out. Anyone ever remove the plastic steps that are on there. They feel like they would come off but I’m not sure what the trick is.

 

I’ll sell you my black tube steps if the paint job messes up. PM if interested. I can ship, too.

 

Just sell them and get the black ones.

 

Ever find out how to remove the pads. I ordered a TRD Pro back in December and gave strict instructions that I did not want any add ons. Well, just got word vehicle came in and they added chrome tube steps. Dealer informed me they would not charge me for them or they would swap for black if I wanted. In order to keep price down I am considering getting them sprayed with linex. Did you ever get yours sprayed? If so, do you have any pics?
