Dont know if they are around the nation, but I went in there to see if they have Falken Wildpeaks AT3W in stock. A lot of locals here were hyping them out so I figured I’d check em out.

First off, I thought I was in a dealership. Salesperson hovering the parking lot. I came in already know what size and tires I want, and instead he started trying to sell me a different bigger tire that won’t even fit my truck. I told him that I am set on Falken Wildpeaks and he tried to give me the biggest tires they have on em. I told them they don’t fit me, so he took me to the back and showed me his truck saying he didn’t need to lift it... it was a full-size Silverado 1500. I told him it was completely different truck and he got the “show” tire of the Falken he was trying to sell me and post it up against my truck and clearly can tell it’ll rub. He swears up and down it won’t and even asked me why I won’t budge on tires and it won’t even matter. This told me; he didn’t even know what he was talking about so I just sterned up and asked for the price of the tires I WANT.

He quoted me $980 for the 265 75/16. Thinking that it was including mounting, alignment and all that, I asked how long it’ll take for them to mount it. Before he told me the time frame, he told me tell he an additional $200 and he will give me 0% finance for 8 months. I told him I don’t need financing and that his prices are ridiculous. I showed him different places that are selling them for less than 500 and he started bashing the other companies saying they sell fake tires!!

Wtf are fake tires?! I didn’t want to make a scene since it was pack in there, but he should have known I know what I was talking about when I started schooling him what overlanding is, what tires are good for certain terrains etc. yet he still try to scam me. I felt sorry for all those people in there getting scammed and heard one dude paid 2000 for terra grapplers...

Easy answer - those would be the Nexen tires, a.k.a. Heung-A Tire in Korean - which are sold by payday lenders who disguise themselves as a national chain of tire stores.

The price I was showing him were from discount tires and Amazon... the vendor in amazon was Falken themselves.

I have had Nexen tires on my old truck and my wife’s car. No complaints here.

RNR's modus operandi - to push easy credit at high interest rates on a second rate brand of tires - with a high markup and service fees.

Is Nexen now considered a 1st tier brand for tires?

Just because a retailer decides to mark up a product line beyond reasonability doesn't mean that said product line is "fake".

Also, Nexen would probably be included in tier three, which also includes Hercules, Mastercraft, Kelly etc. Certainly they have a place in the market and are generally priced according to performance, quality and brand recognition.
