Just joining the crowd of happy customers. I flashed the ECU and TCU about two hours ago, without incident. Have only driven 10 miles so far, but gee wiz, 1.03 is incredible! Thank you to Mat.......................... Frank

I've done it both ways, and cannot tell the difference.

This is with 315’s and 4.88 regear.. I’ve always gotten abnormally horrible gas mileage in this truck.. Like 220 miles usually on a full tank (until gas light comes on).. I would say average is 11-12mpg by calculation. Any other remedies to look for? Crank positioning sensor? Would love to see how the tune can improve the drivability on my truck, starting to lose faith.

This is with OVTune? Or are you wondering if OVTune will help your situation?

Drive it more and see what the calculated mileage is. My estimated MPG is reading a few mpg low from what the actual is. Now that I’m on my second tank of gas it seems to be getting closer but the first tank it was like 2 mpg low and the real time read out seems to be even more than that.

Correct— still stock tune ... Curious to hear peoples improvements in this 1.03 Tune since I see it’s released now.. is it the savior we have been waiting for?

Oh. Yea I’m on the 1.03B tune (for the MT). Definitely recommend the tune with the 1.03 release.

Just got back from my somewhat short test drive with the 87 tune. Holy shit! This thing runs like it SHOULD run, but better.

I started out with a simulated commute to work. Very stop and go, 25mph speed limit, and short distances between stop signs. I used to get so annoyed with how fast it went to 6th gear, and just sat there bogged down.. and the TC roughly unlocking at every stop sign was so god damn annoying. Not with 1.03, everything was perfect.

I don't want to speak too soon about fuel mileage, but typically that commute nets me maybe 14-15 mpg. I got just under 18 (and I was pretty heavy on the accelerator today compared to typical days)

Accelerating from a stop feels so much better, much better pedal feel and no more delay.

On the highway it holds 6th and accelerates, if you need a little more scoot it drops down to 5th smoothly. Mash it down to pass and it just moves.

Looking forward to playing around with S and ECT, as well as giving the 91 tune a shot.

This truck doesn't feel like the wet noodle it was before, great job @OVTune , you really made this truck so much more enjoyable. I just am baffled as to why Toyota released this vehicle with the poor driving behavior it had stock.

What speeds are you guys getting into 6th gear at? I took a short highway trip last night but due to rain I didnt get above 60ish. When I came to an incline and gave it a little gas it would downshift (it needed to). I'm not complaining about it not holding 6th, but wondering if I was actually still in 5th. Because the downshift put it into 4th every time. I verified this by switching to S Mode and not getting a gear change.

So it would appear I was cruising on flat ground at 60-65 in 5th gear. Which Im fine with, and the shift to 4th felt amazing with PLENTY of passing/climbing power. Its either that or I'm cruising in 6th and its going straight to 4th.

This... would love to get some details. My vague understanding is higher octane allows higher compression ratios without knocking due to premature combustion and such... but would love to get some specifics on the advantages of the 91 tune. I'm running 91 for sure, but would love to hear more about it.

Are you regeared? You should see 5th after 50mph roughly, and 6th after 60+, you will be under 2000 rpm @70mph (assuming stock gears normal size tires)

He indicated one might come out this weekend that will be more aggressive. Will have to wait and see.

Do the radio and AC have to be off for this? They’re usually on when I start the truck so I just left them on for the 10 minutes
