So, I like the design of the RCI with the access hatch for oil changes. However, I am curious if that hatch would become damaged over time and cause issues being removed?

I plan on doing my own oil changes since my Toyota care services are done and done mid taking the skid off. However, having that handy port would be nice so long as it does not get jacked up over time.

Anyone have any experience with either (especially the RCI) that could offer some feedback?

I have the RCI skids and the access door is nice, but the oil these trucks use is so thin if there is the slightest breeze, it still goes all over the back of the skids. That said, 4 bolts and the front skid comes off.IMAG4336.jpg IMAG4338.jpg

I have beaten the living crap out of my RCI skids and they haven't disappointed me. However I cannot remove the access hatch at the moment because I hit the bolts on rocks and can't get an allen wrench in them any more. But once I drill them out I will just replace them. If it wasn't for keeping my stock suspension for so long I doubt that would have happened

Just curious what your armor setup is, and how it works for you on stock suspension

I had steel RCI ifs, transmission, t-case, and fuel tank skids for about 6 months on stock suspension. I also had a bed rack and rtt and it was noticeably too heavy. I wouldn't recommend that much weight on stock suspension. I was sagging at all times and bounced like crazy off road. I'm not sure if the extra steel was worth less ground clearance back then, but I never got damage and the skids took a lot of hits, and now that I've upgraded my suspension I'm happy with the decision

Forgot to mention that I've got sliders also. If you are going to have to wait a long time between getting armor and suspension, armor first might not be a great idea since it really hurts that stock suspension

Sliders are definitely a good place to start, for the most part you can make it by without other armor as long as you're careful and not doing harder trails. Although my tcase skid is the one that has taken the most damage
