2012 Tacoma keyless entry range

My keyless entry isn’t working as well as it should. It doesn’t unlock until I’m within an arms reach of the truck. When I first got the key fob it worked from across the parking lot. I tried replacing the battery and reprogramming the key but the issue persisted. How would I go about troubleshooting the module in the truck or the key to fix this?

 

Does the 2nd key fob also have poor range?

 

I only have one fob but reprogrammed it after replacing the battery. I bought the truck used so it’s not the original fob.
Edit: I do have a new one on the way to see if it’s fob or the truck

 

Touch your chip with the fob and it will increase the range. Sounds crazy, but it works. Try it.
