From what I've seen the black handles snap easier than color matched.

The ones that snap like a saltine are the ones that you can buy 6 of for the price of 1 genuine Toyota one for. I went through this with Honda interior door handles. The eBay/Dorman ones are total junk. There's a reason why OEM ones cost more what's a person's time worth? This day in age not much, they need the savings for that two one deal at Applebees. I'm not beating up on the OP. I'm just telling it like it is.

How did you manage to fit it without cutting the bedsides for the high clearance bumper? Did Cbi extend the bumper width for you or did you just mount it lower?

Stupid body lift, but it is a large poly kit. I did not put it on there, my buddy I bought the truck from stock did. Only reasons, I like it is because easier to clean, work on/able to get to stuff, no rub from my tires and my Kings are on factory settings so still got plenty of adjustment! So all in all it’s works for now until I do a straight axel swap in future! My Dakar’s with add a leaf don’t like all the weight though, going to have to do something else with the springs!

Oh okay, that makes sense. I was starring at the picture for a few minutes trying to figure it out haha! I have dakars and add a leaf as well so it sounds like I may have to do something different in the rear when I get this bumper. Thanks for the reply.

Both of mine that snapped were the OEM handles. Granted they were 14 years old. Just funny that they both went out within a few weeks of one another, almost like there was a hard expiration date on them.

OEM or not, it's just not a very good design...if you open the handle closer to the front of the truck (rather than right up against the lock), it puts a lot more stress on the handle itself and makes it more prone to cracking/breaking. No doubt the OEM handles are made of better material, I wouldn't dare put one of those $5 eBay handles on my truck...at least not if I expected it to last another 10+ years.

Yup unfortunately you will my buddy Travis said the allpro expedition heavy duty would take the weight. I figured after the rear bumper, camper, gas, generator, tools etc...... I will be adding extra 750lbs. So may have to do a custom leaf pack off a 1500 series Truck or something. I am really dead in the water for now!

Dropped the truck off at the dealer for a frame inspection appointment tomorrow morning. Did my homework, it’s covered until the end of the year thanks to the original owner getting it treated in 2010. Although I haven’t found any significant perforations, there’s a shit ton of rusted metal on the frame and cross members...more than just typical service rust. Let’s hope the Tacoma Gods smile upon my truck tomorrow.
