Anyone that has installed a winch, have you added any grease to the connectors and then capped them to help keep the elements out? Does it matter?

There is really two options. First one is to buy completely assembled thirds that have what ever you want in them from East coast Gear supply. The shipping and core charge was a tad too much for me for shipping to my door. Option two is having a local shop. My local shop is CT motorsports. Ski at CT is also doing some other work since everything will be apart.

it wouldn't be a bad idea to put some dielectric grease on them.

setting up gears is one of those things that if you don't know what your doing, you don't learn as you are setting up yours by yourself....would be a very very expensive learning experience. Not only that but the speciality tools to measure the backlash and what not...

thats why Ill be doing all the other work myself....boxing the frame, crossmember, over haul on the rear suspension.

Got to know what you can do, and not try to go too far with shit. Unless you have the time and money to learn from mistakes. I wasn't in the position to toast gears trying to set it up myself. Also, I was prepared to do the third member install but the route I am going now is a bit cheaper..

For sure a good idea, I took out my m8000, one of the bolts was seized to the nut on the inside of the case, had to cut the cord... The other two looked new.

PO had also neglected to rotate the housing, so the bolts were at the bottom, where any water was running and settling, obviously got thru the boot and into winch case, probably also why my winch is seized.. Dielectric grease/silicone etc, highly recommended.. Also do this before the winch is mounted into the bumper, I had an impossible time getting it where I needed it..

    Also winch breather mod?
