I put a 2018 grille on my 2017 instead of a TRD Pro grille

I looked at the price of the TRD Pro grille and can’t justify it when all I really want is the black color. I was going to Line X my 2017 grille, but then I saw a guy on craigslist selling this at “fell off the truck” prices so I went for this. I’m still thinking about putting Line X on my old grille but selling it on craigslist to someone that wants the work done already.

Looks good. I get why ORs want to move on from the shiny cheese grater. The base 18s are nice too. So much so that I’m not touching mine. I’ll be that guy who doesn’t have a PRO grille.

F the Pro grille. I think it's a lame design, on top of being overpriced. 2018 design has a simple clean look without looking base model like SR/5

    Too few to list.
I was looking at a truck with a Pro grill in person earlier and not liking how the grill protrudes outward. I think a plain SR grill looks best out of all of them without going aftermarket like the Xtec grill. I personally love the grill below from Bravo Company.

OP, how much would it have cost to Line X your grille? Would it have worked? By that I mean would the Line X adhere to the grille? Thanks.

Yes it would work, there's an entire thread on here about it. The Line X shop here locally said they have done many. He quoted me $75.

That grille is nice and I like how it's inlaid as well. You can have the grille, I'll take the gun

I just plasti dipped mine, because thats what we did before the fancy pro grills and aftermarket, and we liked it like that. Uphill in the snow, both ways.

ironic, the reason I installed a "Pro Grille" is because it protrudes out, I like that "reaching out for air effect" it has, and (in profile) how it gets closer to matching how far the bumper sticks out. Interesting!

Perhaps plastidip the chrome surround black? Other than it looks pretty good.

I didn’t go with plastidip because once some peels off you have to remove all of it to reapply it. I don’t hate chrome as much as I do peeling shit off.

Back then our trucks said TOYOTA on the front, not some fancy sombrero in a circle like you got now.

And our butts contoured to bench seats... there was only acceptable position for the seat, so the driver's feet could reach the pedals.

No fancy recline, no center console, no cup holder, your passenger or your crotch held your drink while you shifted.

    And we were happy.
