So do you run the Mr. Buddy off a large propane tank? My small cannister ran out around 2am.

Some pics from camping on BLM north of Joshua Tree last weekend. It's a dry lake bed called Wasteland. My neighbor has the trailer. also visited Pioneertown. Really cool place

relying on propane heat to stay warm is dangerous, especially with the tank outside... if the ambient temps get down to like 20F, the partial pressure of the propane bottle gets so low it stops outputting enough gas to heat.

we always relied on *warm* sleeping bags, and thick foam (not air) mattresses in cold weather. propane was nice for taking the chill out when getting up, our stoves were isogas (propane-butane mix, works better in cold weather) with a white gas stove as emergency backup (they work even when way sub-zero)

-44*F is the boiling point of propane. Gas delivery stops below this temperature. If gas delivery stopped at 20*F it would be unviable heating fuel for homes.

    Obviously not just me.
I think it un-wise to fall asleep with any fuel burning device in the tent.
Proper gear should be enough. Fire it up when you wake up in the morning.

Thanks! I did make it myself. Wanted something that popped open and could fit in the garage. The 6" lift doesnt help that situation. I still have a few things to work out and improve upon. But overall, she has survived some very hard off-road miles. The roof already has a couple dents from the inside. That Mojave Road is a sneaky one at 50-60mph.

Thanks! The other reason I didnt do over the cab was that I was literally about to learn how to weld aluminum with this project. I kept thinking that if i did a sleeping platform, the welds would break and i would fall in the middle of the night. So, i opted to just do a pop top and run a drawer/sleeping platform. I'll throw more pics up after a couple updates.

I'm a Milwaukee powertools hoarder so I use the M18 LED Lantern/Flood Light. With a battery and charger, you're looking well over $100, but i love it. Super bright and can go from 360 light to 180 forward facing. Also has a USB port for charging. I can do a weekend trip on one 5.0AH battery since you never really need it on High power.

I saw a youtuber do a review on these but I thought they were too expensive. Happened to find one on sale at Sportsmans Warehouse so I picked it up. They are really nice and versatile. Very impressed by the light. I keep a gorilla pod around and it makes it good for almost everything.

I wouldnt use a lantern. There are so many high quality led area lights and work lights that are compact now. I have tried a couple different ones and have loved pretty much all of them.
