Ouch. I'm guessing you lost them to the big blue. I was on a mothership tuna trip last year and a guy turtled almost immediately after getting in the water. He lost his Mirage Drive, Vantage seat, a GoPro, and something else expensive. I remember him adding it all up to over $2K, and then he didn't catch a damn fish all day. Tie that shit down!

. Wow. mine was a series of unfortunate events. I installed a diy elevated seat in my revo13, it made it top heavy but manageable. I had lanyards on everything. My sabiki rig tangled with my live line rig. Had to unleash both of them to untangle. Baited my live liner and dropped it over, before I could leash both back down a big red hit my live bait immediately. The red tangled in the Mirage Drive so I unleashed and removed it from drive lock. When I drug the Big red in and across my lap, I was tired and the Revo being top heavy, weight shifted to left and I just rolled on over. Lost Mirage, 2 shimano rod reels. Just about $1k all togther. 41 feet of water.

Ouch is right! I just got this box in from ACK. Hopefully I can avoid that scenario...

I never had a leash on anything till after that trip. After 2016 Hobie offered a free upgrade to the seat thether which was an easy install, I modded a rod leash I wasn't using for the mirage drive, and I started using my other rod leashes in certain circumstances. I still don't use them as often as I should, but when I'm in open ocean I sure do. My worst story involved a beach landing and a rouge wave that flipped me and snapped off $800 worth of rods. Luckily they all had a warranty and cost me a fraction of that to replace.

I've seen that happen before. I like to lay mine down and bungee them real good before I hit surf.

Finished installing a livewell this weekend and thought I'd share. While I was at it I did a general walk around the boat for anybody that is interested. The livewell is made from a 10 gallon RV water tank and the hatch comes from the one I removed and replaced with the square hatch. The pump is powered by a central lithium battery up front that feeds to my fishfinder and lights also. If anyone wants to build something similar shoot me a pm.

Finally got around to mounting my upper tank this past weekend for a fishing trip down in VA. I still need to paint the mounting brackets I made and U-bolts, but for a trial run it worked flawlessly. Last major upgrade will be the OBA unit that feeds into the hose reel. For the weekend I used a small pump for pressurized water, which worked fine, but with the compressor operational I can leave that at home.

Final pic of tank. I finally painted and coated all the brackets to prevent corrosion while doing the same for the louvers. Also, repainted the entire thing with bed liner which is going to be far more durable than the initial plati-dip treatment. Plasti-dip is good for some things, this wasn't one of them. The small nozzle I found at TractorSupply works perfect for a shower and it's nice and compact. I really like how this turned out.

I sold a rifle recently which freed up some cash! I had enough money left over for my first suppressor and a couple new knives I've been eyeing too. Don't regret a thing.

Aux fuse panel with 100A breaker installed. Right now wired for HIDs, cap electrical, OBA compressor, and inverter all the time. Soon to have solar plug and rock lights wired up, leaving room for another 6 slots of goodies.

Going off-grid. Renolgy 100W folding solar suitcase with Zamp Solar OEM surface plug. The plug is wired into the aux fuse panel, which directly charges the battery. Next up is an Optima yellow top for maximizing storage capacity.

Rock lights: MICTUNNING RGB LED w/CH4x4 switch. Red, green, blue and everything in between. The white isn’t bad surprisingly, see last picture. I think my fav is blue, but the red is pretty nice for retaining night vision. These lights are programmable as well, including to music. I only wanted some extra light for passenger doors and cargo, so the set of 4 worked perfect.

Today was the first time I used my washdown system at the ramp. It worked beautifully, and I expect the second shower tank I built to work equally as well. Should get to try that out here soon too. With a full tank (about 8 gallons w/room for air) it lasted a little over 5 mins. Plenty of time to knock the salt off my boat and gear, including myself. I had the regulator set to 30 psi which blasted water over 30’ away, and the compressor cycled 5 times.
