I have done a search here and read a few threads, but I still wonder if there is a general consensus on the most durable/high quality roll up tonneau for a 2016 DCSB? Durability and ability to have a relatively waterproof seal to the bed (I live in the Seattle area) are important criteria for me. And if anyone has any general comments on the merits of a roll-up vs. trifold cover, I am all ears.

It is a bit early to tell about durability. With the weather and algae growth in this area, I wanted a less expensive roll up but didn't want snaps or velcro. My Lund Genesis Press-n-Seal has been doing great for the past few months.

The price here has gone up about $90 since I bought it:

I’ve had this one for over a year and open and close it a lot. It’s pretty water tight too if you just add a little silicone to the front corners in addition to the foam blocks they send. I like the roll up option because I get full use of my bed.

I know the BakFlip probably doesn't, but do these roll up covers buffet in the wind on the highway that much? I want something that gives me full access to the bed without spending an arm and a leg on it. Frankly, I don't want a cover at all, but am going to need the utility of one for certain things.

Tuxedo TruXport. Ive had mine two years here on the east coast and it has held up well, has not faded, easy to install and is inexpensive.

I was just looking at this one. Does it buffet in the wind, at highway speeds?

From my experience, so far... I think you will get some, regardless of the brand you choose. You can work to get the tension up and remove most of it, but it will be there. The trick here is to remove the air gaps so the only air flow is over the top. When I installed mine (North Mountain -$142) I got a gap in the front corners because the front header was higher than the sides. So much so, that the foam pads on the side rails couldn’t compensate. There is also the two small gaps between the header rail and the side rails. If you clean all this up, the waving will mostly disappear.

TL;DR - it’s not the rollup, but the details in installation.

No, it has 3 tube braces that supports it well. I've had a foot of snow on it, pretty stout.

Another vote for the Bak Revolver, except I went with the matte finish X4. Quite happy with it thus far...about a month into ownership. The Tacoma bedrails make flush or almost flush covers a bit more tricky to install and require some patience and understanding. You'll get better water resistance for something that mounts a top the rails rather than inside the rails.

Truxedo lo pro lq, lifetime warranty and can be sealed up to be almost waterproof. No matter what cover you buy your going to have to seal it up better yourself.

    One other question...

Doesbyiurs have the twill weave or is it vinyl? I've seen it pictured both ways If twill, does it trap dirt and is it hard to clean?

I have had a Bak Revolver X2 installed for two winters. My comments are as follows:

    1) May not be the best cover if you have very cold winters with snow and freezing rain. Cover tends to freeze up, and also won't roll up very well. A trifold may be better. If you do not experience cold winter conditions - no problem.

    2) Only quality issue was the right side release stopped working. The selling dealer opened the assembly up and found out the release cable came loose due to a poor crimp job.

    3) Allows some moisture in. I think all covers probably do this. Hasn't bothered me enough to do a deep dive to try and fix 100%

    4) Because the factory bed rails get lowered about 1.5", some other accessories may not fit the relocated bed rails (OEM bed extender is an example). Just beware.

    5) Great cover, because you can see out the back window when rolled up fully.

The seals work great. There are two lips on each. One is a blade that engages the upper rib on the rail and another bulb that snaps into the rail. It is easy to get it sealed. I just walk along sliding my thumbs along the edge and done. Almost as fast a velcro but with none of the aging and junk buildup.

The one that I got is the textured / twill weave. I thought it was going to be a canvas material, but it is just embossed vinyl. It does look much nicer than the typical vinyl tonneau. It has been easy to clean and doesn't seem to hold any dirt. I just go over it with a water wand type brush (Costco). I have gone through a couple car washes with it also when the truck was really dirty / muddy.
