You’re the man. I’ve been singing your praises since this thing began. BTW Anyone following this thread with a 3rd Gen NEEDS to check out Hondo Garage and look at the Un-Holey Mount. Freaking coolest thing since sliced bread. I installed two, one for iPhone one for iPad mini, if these GFC are similar in quality to his other work... well let’s just say he makes good stuff!! And yes let’s hope for the Alu-Cab brackets, think about it, a shadow awning AND a GFC, you’ll have camp set-up in literally under a minute, your friends are gonna hate you! Haha

I love that Alucab awning, but sheesh is it expensive!

After months of my breathless commentary about this project my wife just told me to put down the deposit (which i did). One question: Do you expect to have a dealer in the Seattle area that could receive the shipment and provide installation?

No dealers. however, we are putting together a list of potential installers/receivers around the country. Installation fees would have to be paid separately but we do intend to offer local install options to recommend.

I think it was mentioned but if not, what is the height to the top of the camper (roof) when closed above the bed rail?

Want to double check my garage fitment measurements. Looking specifically for 1st gen but might as well list all gens.

@DoorDing I checked your monster post on page 52 and saw the cargo height was 41 " from the bed floor. No mention of the measurement I'm looking for. Can you edit to add this when posted?

Interesting... i haven’t ordered my Alu-Cab Shadow yet. The Foxwing seems similar, can it operate without all the poles and guy lines hooked up? Kinda the point of the shadow to me, stop for lunch, cover up in 30 seconds, go to leave back down in 1 minute.

You can, but depending on the wind you might want the poles/lines for support. I'd guess anything more than 10-15 mph would be the limit, but don't quote me on that.

There is also the BatWing awning. Just another option http://www.equipt1.com/item/bat-270-awning-right-hand-side-passenger

The cab roof would work between the same generation but I think the 1st and 2nd gens have different cab heights in relation to the bed rails. The bed rails would be a common reference since that is what it will sit on no matter the gen.

But yeah to start 10" is something. As long as it doesn't go 12" above my cab I'll fit in my garage.

Sounds like you've seen my truck and garage! Haha
But with weight in my truck i.e. the camper and other stuff planned (drawers/fridge/ bumper) it sits level.

Simple solution. You guys need a bigger garage!

I've seriously considered raising the header but for the clearance I'd gain for the money I would spend....eh.

Funny...I thought I was lucky our property still had the original 1 car garage and I thought sweet! I have a shop! Until I saw my friends shop....bigger than my house.....

    That’s a $1M house where I live. $2M where I used to live.

Glad i don’t live in either of those places!!! Yikes. NY sucks for taxes and a lot of other stuff (I will refrain from being political) but you can still own a nice place with property (i have 10 acres) on an upper middle class salary.

I looked VERY seriously into a job in Golden CO last year, that would have been a perfect fit for my skill set and the same money i make here, as with everything i really dig into things. Real Estate prices made it a non-starter for me. I’m hoping :fingerscrossed: that the market out there slides back into reality in the next five years as I’ve also got my eye on a Job in Fort Collins, but i just can’t see putting off retirement for 5 or more additional years just for a change of venue. BTW we LOVE Cali (to visit anyway) spent 10 days there this past summer in Yos, Kings Canyons, Sequoia, ext. quite a place.

I've wondered the same thing. Does anyone have ballpark cost # for raising the garage door header plus new door?

I think I was looking at around $3-4k to get maybe 3 to 4 more inches.
Contemplated doing myself with a steel beam to get more. But am limited with other constraints, a side mount drive opener would help. But then found this thread and forgot all about it.

    It's DLX son!
Where I live the owner of the garage would either be growing weed in it or renting it out for people to live in.
