Do you know when you will have the Stainless version available again?

 

I didn't plan on making anymore, if I'm honest. It is really heavy, and there was not enough interest to justify the tooling and material cost.

 

Who scored the SS one you had? I understand confidentiality, so more of a request for him to come forward...I'd love to hear a review of a nearly 2lb shifter ball on this truck.

 

He should be taking delivery soon, hopefully he comes forward!

 

Oh ok, perhaps something to split the weight of the SS and Aluminum?

 

Titanium would be the obvious choice, but I need to brush up on what grade I can use for this. 6AL-4V is what I am used to, but that shit is expensive.

Edit: okay, so all grades are expensive. Looking like they'd be north of $250 per knob.

 

Maybe machine a larger cavity in an aluminum knob then add fine lead shot and epoxy?

 

I can definitely figure something out like this, just going to need 10-15 people who are interested.

I can also completely change the shape of a stainless knob to bring the weight down from that.

The number of potential variables here are seemingly endless, so I guess my point is that demand is the key factor for driving any significant variations.

 

Well, here's my version installed. Liked the TRD logo'd version & wanted a little extra traction or "feel" on the knob, so after some communication with OP, he added this. Installed in minutes. Used 2 of the yellow (thickest) shims included, and it locked down nicely, slightly skewed (facing driver). Feels good on the test drive round the block. Very happy with my 1st mod on this new truck. Only problem is I already have an idea for a updated version. $$$$ Damn You OP!!!!!!!

I'm in for a good weighted knob that's heavier than the current aluminum version.

 

I didn't realize there was only one made in SS. Now I'm with Rick, probably best not make anymore......

But seriously, This thing is insane! Looks like an award or trophy. And has some oomph behind it.
It was on the porch this afternoon when I woke up, unfortunately I left for work shortly after. Hopefully I'll get a chance to put it on in the next day or two and I'll give some good feedback.

 

I should have sent that thing with a matching pimp stick, it would make a formidable melee weapon. That is actually the prototype that I originally made, and it briefly had TOYOTA engraved on it. I skimmed that clean, updated it with a tapered lug and radius leads and put it up for sale. I liked it just fine, but the weight of the aluminum is more suitable for me.

There is one more SS version out there, owned by @Biker88 ... but it was made into a different shape.

 

Playing around with new 5 & 6 spd patterns. Does the R logo work in the reverse location, or does look stupid? I can't decide.

The font is actually kinda close to the gauge cluster.

 

I'm confused, the R's are in the correct location ... and there is a 6 on there.

Just made the 5sp version, going to be my forever knob ... looks really good to my eye as well. I'll post pics in a few.

The SR knob (w/ tacoma on both sides) I have been using is scrapped, as the boot collar is a bit loose due to an error loading the part into the machine. I can sell that for a heavy discount, if anyone is interested. The boot hasn't fallen off once for me, so it isn't really an issue, just isn't as tight fitting as the others.

Below are two important posts I made about installation ... and a general explanation as to why I made the threads the way I did. You really don't need the lubricant right now (as I already put some on there), but it would provide good insurance to apply it maybe once per year. You could pick up a 1oz tube of permatex aluminum lubricant at autozone or walmart for a couple of dollars.
