That rack is Nice! Is that a custom rack or did you get it from Diamondback?

It was all through diamond back. But I feel unique now because I don't think they made too many for the 1st gen. Also the racks on top are through them, but they have never heard of someone buying 2 sets and inverting them. I needed a surf rack with a cover. I don't think any other company makes both that attach to each other and offer decent security.

Also my cross bin from there is super custom. Had to work directly with their engineer.

Either way, it was a journey, but the end result is sweet!

Great to hear @coryohana. It looks sweet! Sorry for all the headaches but it looks completely worth it.

What crossbar rack system have you attached to your Diamondback cover?

Missed the group buy but Zach still got me a good deal no tax or shipping. I blackout out all the stainless bits. Derped the hinges and replaced screws with black and sprayed the heads down with rustoleum clear coat. Anyone have a hard time closing the cab panel? Too tight and I can’t get it to lock too loose and the gasket doesn’t compress.

Edit:The back cab was bothering me so much I bought an extra set of lock rod striker brackets and installed them back there also. I did have to cut the factory bed rail a few inches off and also had to cut the brackets to make this work. Omg it locks so nice now with the brackets! Compression on the gasket is perfect.

The cab panel definitely requires a bit of finesse. After you have it installed and it sits closed for a while it gets easier.

@Shermyota30 what paint did you use to black out the hardware for the diamondback? Is that paint holding up?
    Thank you for any feedback.

New models come with black hardware (hinges). You can also swap them to an existing model, they changed the design to a hinge that interlocks better and has no tabs to bend

Well that is good to hear @Shellshock. I just ordered my Diamondback SE and was thinking I would need to get that hardware painted. Glad that is not the case. One less thing.

I used plasti dip but it didn’t last very long. Diamondback now sells the blacked out hardware/hinges for $40.

I noticed that they raised their prices but aren't charging $150 for shipping, at least to where I am in Colorado.
