I am aware of regulations. But distemper is hardly a disease that's really a threat now, bordetella or kennel cough is treated on its own in a healthy dog as well as parvo. I'll probably vaccinate her in a few years just to be safe but I will not yearly vaccinate. Rabies I have no choice but to do again next year then again in 3 years because of my county's laws.

And heartworm prevention is great when used in areas that actually need it and given in the months of year that mosquitos are a problem, rather than every single month. In Arizona, heartworm is hardly any issue. So my dog doesn't get heartworm preventative

Honestly......pry open his mouth, drop the pill into the back of his mouth, hold his snout closed and tilt his head back. That works for me as a last resort.

I’ll do the same if what I put above didnt work....and it often did not. Luckily with my dogs I have now.....anything they eat they see it as a treat so wrapping a pill in pb with a little bread is always a go.

Meat baby food, canned dog food, cheese, pill pockets, hot dogs. All so much easier than forcing down their throat. Or whatever food he loves and scarfs down without chewing

I can't even take a shower without my shadow, Freya. She's always suggesting tug-o-war, and if I decline, she brings me toy after toy thinking there might be one that's too tempting for me to pass up. She's definitely a daddy's girl.

I agree... Only test what is necessary, and really only get vaccinations when necessary. My vet will do the titer when asked... But can't get around some mandatory things without potential consequences. Just raising awareness, not giving advice, or judging

Any time I set up to take a picture of the truck, she conveniently places herself in between and looks distracted.

For sure. Being a vet tech it's hard having my opinions because I can't voice them to clients. If a client chooses to not vaccinate regularly and that pet gets sick my Dr could get sued for not following vaccine manufacturer label instructions. It's wild.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I'd like to argue this. The type of worm our dog ingested was not mosquito born. As I said previously, it could have been a slug who slithered through infected feces, and she picked it up via her outdoor water bowl, toys, eating something she shouldn't, etc. So as a prevention she is now on a 12 month schedule. Afraid of losing her, vs taking the chance with prevention and giving her a longer life. I'll take a longer life. To me it's like the seat belt debate, you may die wearing one, you may live without one, but in my past experience, you are better off belted.
