Suppose that makes sense - thanks! I guess i assumed it would be more so how deep into the peddle you had to be - and knew you would have to be heavier on the peddle with longer gearing and bigger tires than you would have to be with shorter gearing and bigger tires.

Another reason I got a manual... the second time. Traded an auto 3 gen for a manual one.

I hear you, but unfortunately raising RPM's is more detrimental than throttle values (within reason). Plus, with this numb electronic throttle its anyone's guess what response you are getting per amount of throttle input. Throw in the pho-Atkinson cycle/variable valve timing at different RPM's and loads and it starts to get even more complicated. The old saying Your Mileage May Very is really fitting here. YMMV.

OP has to be somewhat trolling I can't imagine anyone with that extensive of mods being so dense.

OP just in case you have no idea what you're doing just FYI your factory tire/wheels weigh 55lbs at each corner.... the tire/wheel setup you have now weigh at LEAST 115lbs at EACH CORNER. So you added 240lbs or so of dynamic weight at the worst possible place.

Then you added a shitty 6" mall crawler lift and even further trashed your cD.... come on man you had to have known before all that what it was going to do to your handling and MPGs it seriously hilarious you're complaining, unless you're trolling in which case carry on i guess....

I think everyone that complains about the transmission shifting should buy an old 3 speed. It will never shift

I find it annoying at highway speeds too, any slight incline and it’s shifting to 5 then 4th and sometimes even 3rd just screaming up hills. It really does kill the fuel economy.
My 2012 taco has 3.73 I think but it was nice n tourqy and hardly ever shifted even to 4th gear.

I’m not very happy when it comes to towing even a small load at highway speeds.

Looked into the 4.30 that manuals come with Toyota wanted around $1500 for the gears

I want my old El Camino back with the 283 V8 and Powerglide AT transmission. It only shifted once. Then I had a Chevy short narrow bed with a six and three on the tree. Great truck.

Also had a lot of fun with a 1977 Toyota Hi Lux with a 4 speed manual.

This 6 speed automatic in the Tacoma is no fun at all.

Yes, I am old and cantankerous.

    Beer drinkin time.
