So this may seem silly but it is a serious question: I will have a baby and toddler in the back of my truck, and for whatever reason they love to stare at lights. Is the ultimate dome light too bright for kids? Is there a mediocre dome light, or cover I can install?

Thanks for all the great work

I have the ultimate and it will hurt my eyes if I stare at it in the night tbh. I AM NOT COMPLAINING but I wanted to provide an honest answer.

I do have sensitive eyes due to life guarding in the Houston summers and not wearing sunglasses. I've also heard that people with green/blue eyes are more sensitive to light than those with brown so that could be an issue as well.

New forum member here, Brand new 2018 TRD OR owner! So pleased and got my first meso mods in, v1 red maps and red ultimate dome. Last night I decided stupidly to try to install the dome thinking there was no way to screw it up. Apparently did not get the switch on the dome turned correctly to the 'off' position with the door open, got the stock bulb out, then nuked the fuse with one end of the connector. No lights obviously, till today when I got a new fuse. Now with the switch on the overhead control set to 'auto' for the door to activate maps and dome, they are always on. If I switch that to 'off' they are off. So even with the doors closed, we have lights on in the cab.
I'm not an EE, just related to a bunch, so does this sound a voltage irregularity or draw issue between an LED array and standard map lights or something more sinister?
I'll install the LED V1's tonight to see, after switching back the OEM dome bulb to see if there is anything wrong with the whole circuit after the voltage spike last night. picture included is of current state with the doors all fully closed, overhead switch set to 'auto'. Thanks so much in advance Meso and looking forward to the black turn signals!

I feel that your eye doctor would tell you it is not a wise decision for your toddler to stare at the sun aka Mesos LED Dome. Then again you could, get the Meso Baby Glasses Mod. It is an add on for all dome light purchases.

Will the ultimate dome light fit an 08 Fj Cruiser?

From your pic it looks like your switch by the map lights is turned to "on" not set to the doors or off.

*Edit: maybe not after finishing trading your post.

It's a weird reflection on that switch from the angle the light was coming from outside. I've checked it in every configuration and will tinker more tonight when the family releases me for 'me' time. Certain that in the middle mode everything stays on even making sure all doors are closed and there is no readout on the dash that says any doors are ajar.

Or a simple google search would reveal that it is a similar bulb that would fit w/ the ulti dome for sure due to the spring loaded sizer. The question is would the dimensions different of the dome fit or be off. I'd wager it would fit based on this thread / picture.

So I checked last night, and it seems that i fried something in one of the switches that activates the dome when the door is open. With the stock bulb in place the lights stay on when in 'door' mode. Guess I'll take it in to get it fixed. Pull the fuse under the dash before applying this mod. 7.5 amp, labeled on the cover.
The red dome LED in place is awesome! I'd imagine that going with the white would be like standing on the surface of the sun when active. Sweet.

Haha "mediocre dome light mod v3" I can see it now. A few pages back I posted a photo of my little boy staring at the ultimate red dome. I had to tell him quit staring directly at it.

I know since I found this thread a half a year ago I've read the entire thing at least 3 times now and I swear, unless I missed the post, you are the first person to fry a switch. I think one other guy blew a fuse. I would do what you said, put it all back together OEM and take it in. See what happens.
