I might have to go in to a hardware store and use their guides to get the pitch. I'll respond back when I get that! Heading out for a four day fishing trip in the AM. The tailgate caps sees plenty of salt and sand with minimal rust so far.

These used to be made from steel, now they are 1/8" thick aluminum.

You doing the same thing with the side-rails? I have the original steel ones and I've had some minor rust issues after 2 years, mainly from wear and tear that chipped or scratched the powder coat.

Mostly for the corrosion resistance and lighter shipping weight. Aluminum is 1/3 the strength of steel, but the new material is twice as thick.

Aluminum is about 6 pounds. Steel was about 8.5 pounds.

That's for the tailgate cap? Damn that's quite a bit. You used 14 ga previously correct?

Yes, that is for the tailgate, and yes we used 14 gage steel before.

Now it's 1/8" thick aluminum, and the gate now feels perfect.

This and the tail gate skin you got would be perfect. Like how these fold over to the outer skin

Just got my cap yesterday and got to install it this morning. It went on pretty tight, so its plenty snug and solid. Looks like plastic too which is great. Its gonna be a while before I can say anything about the powdercoat, but it looks great. The only cons I can notice is the coating gets a little ruff on the corners, but that's to be expected. My original cap was so busted, all but one of the clips broke off and it was worn away pretty badly, figured I'd give kb voodoo a chance. I'd recommend it anyone looking to beef up their tailgate or replace a broken plastic cap. (If you're on the fence about it not being curved, it fits and looks great the way it is)
