ehh I'm just talking about the pre-order side of it. the rest I agree, only good news, save maybe a "Toyota has asked me to do fleet vehicles so I am going to have very limited time for public tunes so lead times are going to be measured in months"

I wouldn't be surprised if it's someone's paid job to ONLY monitor the goings on of the TW threads, not when there are paid employees in nearly every company anywhere that only upkeep social media accounts and plastic surgeons who have people on payroll who only hold the phone to Snapchat operations for followers. Really not that farfetched to assume that Toyota has people monitoring the aftermarket community, "taking the pulse" of the community so to speak, and reactions of people to aftermarket options

    Plot twist:

Toyota bought the tune (as a regular customer). Downloaded it to a truck. Collected the maps from the ECU. Now theyre offering Matt $300,000 for it. Matt accepts, doesn’t sell anymore, toyota lets out a TSB, everyone who bought OVtune is out $700.

I feel like @OVTune lives in some dimension with much lighter gravity so due to time dilation what feels like hours and days to him is days and weeks to us mere mortals. :)

Well, if I spent $700, and in the end I get an equal factory tune from Toyota, I figure that’s a win and I’m not out $700. I don’t care that the rest of the public gets it for free. My spend got me what I wanted. No matter the method.

Yeah! Lets all get worked up over a fictional scenario someone concocted on an internet forum without any evidence or proof!

What's even more funny about this scenario is thinking of the people who sold their Tacoma saying that if only the drivability was better, they would've kept it instead of trading in on something else lol do they trade in again for another Taco?

I think they'd need to pay him more than $300,000 for it... hell at $700 that's only 430 kits or so... I'd think they'd need to pay him north of 6 figures to make it worth it on his end...

So here goes my review of 1.03 as a AT owner. First off I have a 2016 DCSB with 255/85/16 tires and a 2" lift. I also have a hidden winch mounted up front and a softopper on the back. I have been a Ovtune customer since the 1.01 version days so I have had a chance to see the tune evolve. I ran the 1.02a 87 tune for a good 6000 miles and thought it was decent but still ran mostly with ECT on. Now I have run the 1.03 87octane tune for about 1200 miles. My initial 400 miles I thought it was perfect and didn't feel a need for ECT at all. After 400 miles though I started to feel like the shifting was getting jerky and the throttle was becoming more sluggish. I started to feel like the truck was lugging more in the 30 to 50 mph range. I ran it this way for another tank of gas to see if that had anything to do with the gas and it didn't change. So at about 600 miles I changed to running with ECT on and this has fixed the issue. The truck shifts much smoother and doesn't have the lugging anymore. As for MPG's I haven't noticed any change at all. I am averaging 15 mpg. My highway driving has greatly been improved which includes cruise control. No more bouncing between gears as much just to keep speed. I really can't wait to see how this tune works when I am towing my 22 ft travel trailer. I will have to wait a few more months before that happens as right now I am dealing with a foot of snow. If you are on the fence about getting this tune I would say don't be. Even with the lugging and shifting characteristics I mentioned in this review it is WAY better than the stock tune.

My only fear is that the '18 tunes are at risk for delayed posting. :(

Yes. In that case, my $$ would have been wasted. Until I could sell on the forum to an owner of a '16 or '17 that is. My dongle is now registered, but I *think* it's still usable on any Tacoma before being tied to that vehicle.
