Ordered a truck on 2/26. And by order I mean I wrote a check for the down payment on what I wanted them to order.

They told me 6-8 weeks on delivery, possibly sooner if they can get a current allocation changed. I made the mistake of reading other peoples horror stories on here about their trucks taking 5+ months. I probably should have just left the dealer and waited, as they seem like they know what they are doing. But my control freak in me took over...

Question I have is how long it took for anyone else to receive their allocation confirmation? I don't mind waiting the possible 8 weeks for the truck to come, as long as I know everything is in the system, with a rough idea is to when it will be built/delivered.

    Any info would help.

    Thanks

My truck took about 4 Months from when I ordered. When they got the build date it took about 3 weeks to arrive at the Dealership

From my experience , it depends on what you ordered . It seems if you want a lot of expensive options on a shortbox TRD OFF Road with AUTO , it will be quicker . DCLB is only made a few times a year as it has a different frame from ALL the other models and it depends on if you coincide when they make a run of them .

I ordered a 4x4 TRD Off Road DCSB with a MT unfortunately. Only option I added to it was the Beadlock style wheels.

What’s another 8 weeks for an exact vehicle you want and will own for years?

I'm with you that's why I went with ordering one. I was impatient with the last car I bought so I wanted to make sure I got exactly what I wanted if I was going to go through with it, even if that meant ordering one.

I was just was looking to get info on others experiences. Like I said I just read about to many horror stories not to ask.

8 weeks lucky you. Deposit down Feb 8th. Looking like July at best for me. Congrats. And jealous I just want my truck.

Almost considered changing my order to something else to get it quicker. Almost ;)

Exactly, being impatient or having to settle for something else would just lead to second thoughts and misery, its worth waiting for what you want.

While you wait, don't hesitate to keep looking at other dealerships to see if they get that exact truck in. TRD OR w/ M/T isn't THAT uncommon. From my experience, there is several allocated to the region, so chances are, another dealer may end up getting one. You can buy direct from them or have your dealer do a trade.

Just wait for the right one. Like dating. Grab the first fat chick or wait for the slim one?
Then again, fat chicks are great in winter time, they warm the bed quicker...

It depends on several factors. The biggest being the region you are in. If you are in the southeast, I say good luck. They have a love hate relationship with Toyota and you tend to get what you get. Same is true for gulf states region, but there seems to be more love of that privately owned region. Outside of there Toyota owns the distribution so it gets easier on the inventory manager. They don't allow them to order a specific vehicle. They can put in requests for vehicles, but it is really up to Toyota to determine what they get. Inside the region they can trade with other dealers. That is usually easy. Unless you are trying to get something hot like a TRD Pro then they don't trade unless you are paying more than you should.

So if you are lucky and one shows up in your region, it could happen quickly. If you are part of the Toyota controlled regions, it might happen sooner. Don't be shocked if you are asked to settle.

you're doing it right if you have a specific target in mind... no compromises so you may have that cost to pay... waiting.

i put down a deposit for the first MT Pro allocation in Texas. i was first in line. I saw the allocation page from GST myself. they took the deposit. all was good. salesman was solid.

waited 4 months and got a call from the salesman that the allocation had been pulled and redirected to another dealer. oh shit! there went my truck!

turns out the salesman was old school and was connected. he called his buddy at the newly allocated dealer and they did a backroom deal. they both got some pay, and i got my truck. but the deposit needed to be refunded and redone, and another couple months of wait added on.

not a problem. got the first MT Pro out here and the unicorn lives... totally worth the wait if you're serious about what you want. you know... patience. cannot shortcut some things some times.

It all comes down to exactly what you want and the color. Remember, that Toyota sets what trucks with what options/colors get built and that doesn't change. All a dealer can do is look through the planned build schedules to find the truck you want, and earmark it for you. Putting your deposit down as you did is the fastest way, because that is what tags that truck as spoken for in the system so someone else at another dealer can't come in and snipe it out from under you.

As for your actual question. I waited about 4 weeks for mine, but I got really lucky; the exact truck I wanted (DCSB OR, 6MT with zero options/packages) was already allocated to the dealer I was working with and already had an estimated build date set. The actual build date did end up slipping back by 2 days from the original estimate, but shipping from San Antonio to Seattle once built took 17 days. I was prepared to wait for months based on what I had read here as well. But again, I just got lucky on timing.
