That's not always the case. There are people out there that take pride in their work. My Dealership has always had great service, they truely go above and beyond.

I find that 5k is too early and 10k is almost too long. Especially the 1st one with the metal shavings during the break-in period!

Does it have any effect on the warranty if you don't go let them do the scheduled services? I always change my own oil, and probably wouldn't go to the dealer unless I had a warranty claim. I generally don't trust them. That's not to say all techs and dealers don't care, just that you never know who is going to end up servicing your vehicle.

During my 10K service a big scratch, really a full rub mark, magically appeared on my rear driver's side flair. Before they could/would repair it they had to find the paperwork from the intake inspection. After several calls from me checking on it and my daughter, who works at the dealership, speaking to the manager of the service department they agreed to take care of it. She outright told him that I knew when, where, and how every mark on the truck came to be in full detail. Some of which she could not even see.

Additionally, she said "You have to understand, Dad loves in this order:
His truck, Boomer (his dog), Mom, me and my brother, my big sister, his tools and other stuff" She even told my wife what she told them and that Mom should feel good cause she made the top 3. :D

The dealer did take care of the issue. They did repair the damage at no cost to me, but admitted no fault. All ended well in the long run.

The result here is that I now take a video walk around my Taco EVERY time I walk away from it at the dealership. I do this before I had over the key and as soon as I get it back, while the service writer stand there watching me. I make sue he stands ther and I get him in the video as well. I did this even when I took the truck in for the rub repairs.

Moral of the story make sure you document the condition when you let the dealer touch it so any hick-ups can be resolved sooner than later. I am just enough of a jerk to make sure it is clear to them that I am doing this when I check the truck in and out, I do the same with a rental/loaner they may give me.;)

Good Lord......I was all trusting and warm fuzzies about my dealer.....until reading this thread.

Now, I'm gonna go in there and replace the 9mm I'd be normally carrying with a .45 and be ready to pistol-whup the lot of 'em.

    Dangitman, ya'll have me skeert.

No kiddin', though......gonna buy a newspaper that morning and video it in the background as I do a detailed video walk around of my Taco the morning I take in in for the 5K work.

Also gonna stand in the bay and watch 'em change my oil.
