Last summer, I got to spend some quality time with the Tacoma, tent and bike in Downieville, CA.

So many roads, so many trails. There's a lot of camp spots out there but the best ones are the free camping on the ridge. So the Tacoma and the Tepui were perfect.

    Anybody been out there?

I haven't, but it looks gorgeous there. Looks like I'll have to add it to my list of places to visit.

Yeah, but generally camped closer to town so we could catch the shuttle up. Though last year, first visit, there was still too much snow for the shuttle runs so we just rode up to the top of Second Divide. EDIT: and back down of course! Haven’t really done any 4 wheel off-roading there, just two wheel pedal and moto dual sport, but it’s on the list for this summer.

Does running into things count as a mod?
A lot of spots around Mills Peak also. None of the D-ville crowd and my opinion, a funner trail

So there's a 2-mile fire road segment of Mills Peak that loses a lot of elevation. Good news is the that fire road has been replaced by bike specific singletrack!!!

Construction was finished in Jan and it will be ready to ride as soon as the snow melts.

I think the new singletrack will not only be more fun, but should be easier. Sections of that fire road were really rough and loose and steep. Not my favorite. But the view at the lookout is worth it.

A group of us rode it late last summer, just before the Sierra Buttes trails folks began working their magic. The fire road was sketchy like the old Mammouth Mountain downhill, fire Road with loose on top of slightly flat to off camber. Can’t wait to get up there again this year.

Nevada City is home for me. That entire area and the rivers are absolutely incredible.

Three inches of rain in Downieville last 24 hours.
