This is a great idea, thank you!

But, you might want to rethink a .22 as a defensive weapon. Just sayin'.

Please don’t turn a useful thread into a debate on methods and reasons of carrying.

Everyone’s mindset and state law is different.

I’ve considered doing something similar for a 22lr pistol. A lot of time I’ll leave one in the truck to shoot grouse and this would be a nice method to keep it organized. Not much better than seeing a bunch of dumbass birds next to the road and having fresh food for dinner afterwards.

For anyone against the usefulness of keeping a weapon in this position:

    1) in some states you can’t keep your lawfully concealed weapon open to public view (ie below the steering wheel)

    2) sometimes those that carry want to take it off their person or store it quickly for peace of mind - that’s where this solution comes in play. Yes, they realize they’re giving up accessibility.

    3) My personal tidbit; I had a CCW in CA and was stopped at a redlight boxed in by vehicles to my front rear and left, with a wall to my right. 3 gangbangers got out of their car behind me, and approached the car directly to my left with knives. 2 gangbangers get out of the car to my left and all 5 men start swinging knives at each other.

I had my weapon in my center console beneath the carpet. My concern was I had my girlfriend in the passenger seat and I didn’t know if one of these guys would pull a gun or not - which would be the point where I would put down a threat before one of their missed bullets comes through my window. I was able to get the weapon out within seconds and was at the ready as they attempted to all stab each other - luckily traffic ahead of me opened up and I was able to drive off without incident.

Again, let’s stay on topic - but don’t disregard this method of securing a firearm.

I put a 4 section organizer in my center console and drop my Glock 43 into one of them (in it's holster) while driving.
