Howdy all. I'm looking for info on the largest resonator or perhaps what 2nd muffler people are running. I see a lot for 3rd gens and xrunners but i have an 06 dcsb trd lifted 3" 4x4. I just completed the exhaust with URD equal length headers, offroad y-pipe and mark3 3" cat back. I'm supercharged as well and plan on getting the stage2 pully and program soon...ish. The buzzing (rasp) is non stop unless I'm 4500+rpm. Looks like the vibrant ultra quiet 3" is where it's at but I've also read that gadget has a second muffler on his xrunner, is this possible on a 4x4. It would seem that what hinders the install of a decent size resonator/2nd muffler is the crossmember where the two piece driveshaft connects and bolts to. Has anybody been crazy enough to cut and reinforce this to allow for more clearance between the exhaust pipe and crossmember? With the 3" pipe I'd be surprised if I had a 1/4" of clearance there. What about the round magnaflow resonators? I ask because they're tapered from the ends to the bodies and aesthetically I think they'd look less bulky or might just show less all together. Bottom line, gotta lose the buzz.
On another note, I'll also be forced to cut my tail pipe off before the bend under the leafspring cuz it hits.

I wonder if a fiberglass heat pipe wrap could tame some vibe/sound? Wish I had your situation kinda. I'm stuck running converters for emissions. Otherwise I'd buy that exhaust system.

We have the same setup ..

Magnaflow resonators are junk .. I ended up adding a 2nd resonator, vibrant ultra quiet.

@loginfailed has 2 vibrant ultra quiet on his.

One ultra quiet wasn't ultra quiet enough heh? Right on man thanks. I don't suppose you have a 6 speed and have ever tried a tundra 5.7 76mm throttle body? URDs site says that with the manual trans it is harder to get the computer to adjust properly. I'd like to get a 70mm but they'r more spendy/harder to find and I'd have to get another spacer. I may just try a stock Tacoma TB.

Over the years I've recognized drone to just be one of those side effects of more power. So it doesn't bother, the rasp on the other hand is just embarrassing. My truck literally sounds like there is a piece of plastic buzzing like a reed inside my exhaust. Like Torspd said to another fellow, "the tone sounds pretty good, somewhere behind that buzz".
    Something along those lines.

Did you do this for drone or for rasp?

I have the same exact raspy sound ever since I deleted my secondary cats. It drives me insane, I was told that was the material inside the primary cats vibrating? Ive been looking at replacing them with new cats or aftermarket ones to get rid of the noise, but maybe a resonator or silencer would work?

I have zero cats. When i bought the truck a year ago it had all stock exhaust minus a flow master muffler. New headers came first due to my truck running rich and URD suggesting it was more than likely my first cat on bank one. After I installed the URD equal length headers I didn't notice any sound or performance changes. I drove it this way for a few months till I started getting a rattle in my exhaust. Wound up being chunks of catalytic converter filter blowing around in my y-pipe and plugging up where the two go to one. So i replaced the factory y with URD offroad y and that was when it started. I definitely noticed the sound change at this point but it was terrible. It was extremely raspy and loud as all hell. At this point I thought there may be a chunk of filter lodged in the flowmaster, So i bought the mark3 cat back. I figured this was why URD sells the 3" cat back with the uge magnaflow muffler, after all the site says it will tame the rasp. Now all the exhaust is replaced, NO CATS. The mark3 is much quieter than my 2.5" with flowmaster BUT it is extremely raspy. The note in the background is aggressive when your in it but you gotta be 4000+ rpms to get past the rasp. Otherwise you can't hear anything but rasp. (Fartcan/ricer)
I thought maybe a tuning issue but Gadget says it can't be a tuning issue. I thought maybe it's because I have a 76mm throttle body and a six speed manual transmission and that the ecu is having a hard time calibrating it. URDs site says that it's harder for the manuals to get the 76mm to adjust than it is for the autos.
Now gadget wants me to verify the cam gears were installed correctly.
It's frustrating when you have to replace stuff thats failing so you pay top dollar for a product from a leading company only to receive a new headache. It rubs on my leafspring so thats gotta get cut off, there goes $200, and it sounds like shit so I gotta add another $200+ to it. Pretty laim when a $1500 exhaust needs to be cut for a series of hideous resonators and offroad clearance.
    RANT OVER

Well i do notice that it runs much better at higher rpms. For instance, on the highway I use to try and keep it around 2-2200 rpms but now it's comfortable @ 2500. I also plan to go stage 2 pully and program. The exhaust i now have is required in order to do so. I'v thought of just doing it and seeing if the other program helps.
