Every truck is different. The factory leafs on all Tacoma’s are weak and eventually will sag. The TRD sport came with the 4 leaf pack stock. All or most off roads came with the 3 leaf pack. All the tsb leafs are 4 pack. Neither is more superior. A few of my buddies got the tsb because their factory leafs were sagging. Initially, they thought the tsb fixed the saggy stock leafs. After only a few months they started to sag just like the stock leafs. Just search the forum for stock leafs or tsb leafs. I’ve owned 3 Tacoma’s and on each one the leafs have sagged. I don’t haul much and only tow a mowing trailer. Wheeling will also stress the leafs more than regular daily driving. I can’t really tell you when they will sag because of all the different variables. If you want to lift it 1.75 in the front I would at least put a 1.5 aal in the rear. Doesn’t really matter what company you go with. I’ve had good luck with Wheelers Offroad.

1.75 made mine too close to nose high for me. I added bags and it bumped it up an inch, riding at 15lbs.

Anyway, I should have done .85, or whatever the next lowest setting is. Thing rides like a damn dump truck with all the preload. I actually just purchased some of the clearance TRD pro suspension setups, so I'll be selling my 5100's if you want to hold off, lol.

Just wondering, but where did you find the TRD pro suspension?

Check out that thread. Conicelli and Oempartsworld . I ordered one from each, fearing i would miss out, and both are back ordered. Guys on there saying there is like 100 something left, so i didnt want to take a chance. I'll either end up with 2 sets or none when they cancel them, lol. Cant live with the 5100's eatin my tires. Probably wouldnt have the issue if i didnt have the extra weight. Who knows, maybe i have the same issue with the Pro setup, but others seem to think it will work out better, heavier spring/shock and all.

If i end up with 2 i'll just sell them for what i got in em.

So.... I just installed 5100s all around. On the first install I set the fronts to the second setting. According to Bilstein this would lift my front about 7/8" - perfect for leveling. However, I got about 2". On the second install I lowered the setting to the first setting which should have been a factory stock ride height. But it now sits about an 1-1.25" higher than the rear. Did I miss something? BTW, the rear springs are stock packs which were replaced this past October via the Toyota recall and the front springs are the stock originals. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Perch appears to be as factory installed. For reference, approx ground to wheel well measurements are: 37" front / 35" rear. Also, the rear also appears a bit higher than stock. Is that standard for the 5100s?

Mine is probably different since i have a 3rd gen and also my 5100s were 3rd gen but when i installed just the 5100's in the rear it gave me ~.70" of lift.

I also chose the 4th setting on my 5100s in the front hoping for a 1.55" lift and i am got just a hair over 2" of lift in the front on my stock coils.

So 5100s all around with TSB springs and a toytec AAL I’d have to set the shocks at 2.5” for the truck to be level? I’d imagine the ride would be pretty rough with this setup?

It'll ride like a damn dump truck. :bikewhoops:
Some people are fine with it though.
Get yourself some ome springs from Mary at headstrong if you want to go that high and have a pleasant ride. And be prepared for possible uca.

I'm changing mine out. Don't even like 1.75 on mine, but that may have something to do with my extra weight up front.

Haha thanks for the info. I’m thinking of going just 5100s on TSB leafs set at 1.75”. What do you think?

Probably fine if you like a stiff ride. If not, get you some ome springs to go with.

New to the site. Have just bought first Tacoma...2017 TRD Off road. I've been reading about lifts/leveling. My question is why does Toytec recommend the front Diff drop kit on 4x4 models with their complete lift kits, but I have not read any mention of this for kits using the 5100's? Will 5100s without diff drop create problems down the road?

No. Not on my second gen it didnt. How big a lift are you talking about? 5100's are minimal.
