This is my first build. Will be the first time we've had any kind of firearm in the house with the kids.

Safe is on the list, but will be a while before I get spendy on a nice one of those. Ammo, another check.

I didn't know I needed a range bag. Have to add that to the list of things I didn't know I needed yet.

Been having a crazy thought about turning my land in Laurens into a place to shoot guns. It's a long kinda narrow 1+ acre and I could build up a berm at the deep end. There's no other houses back there, just woods.[/QUOTE]
You don't have to go wild and crazy with the range bag.. find you a Tacti-Cool bag/backpack that will hold Earpro, Eyepro, ammo, a couple of clothespins (cause the range never has any to hang your target with), gun oil, maybe a small multi tool, etc.

Keep an eye out at Academy Sports, they run bags on clearance occasionally and you can get a good deal on one.

Welcome to the club! Advice for the kids don't make it a secret or a very mysterious thing or they'll want to play with them. Teach them what to do with them. My 5yr old helps me clean mine and that is a perfect time to teach firearms safety. Because she's been taught from a young age she knows what to do if she sees one. She told me this weekend that we never play with guns and if she sees one she goes to get an adult and the only time she is allowed to touch one is with me or her pawpaw. She said all of this out of her own accord not prompted or anything.

I just use a backpack to take my ammo and range stuff in then have a couple of gun cases I carry the guns in.

There's two end quotes in the markup because of how Jimbo's quote got embedded.

But yes, let's blame @JimboAnz
