I first did this about 2 years ago. I since had to redo it like a month ago because the tint faded and looked bad. This is about 3-4 coats of tint, cured for like an hour in direct sunlight then about 10 coats of clear. I'm also super lazy, didn't sand between coats and didn't sand after.

I followed this thread dutifully with a 1971 Volkswagen Beetle with crappy foggy plastic taillights.

They look amazing, thank you so much! (Ignore all the dust in my camera lens, lol)

There is no haze, no orange peel, just glossy dark sexiness. I'll post another picture of them on the car, but these steps really work.

Why is this a thing.. it's like putting sunglasses on your tail lights. Looks cool, but on a sunny day prepare to get rear ended.

I got obnoxiously bright LED bulbs and foil tape to take care of that, they are crisper than factory by miles now.

IDK either. It’s a ricer / tuner thing but it’s not my truck so what do I care. Although OP may be found liable in an accident.

Meso provides Stage 1 and Stage 2 led kits for rear lights on 3rd gens. People describe them as assaultingly bright. This mod will fix this issue and improve appearance a bit. I kind of like it and planning to buy used lights just to try it.

I wonder if this can be done to OE silver wheels to get a darker silver look.
