Looks great! I'm planning on doing something similar on mine this spring. Can you post and tips or suggestions on how you did it?

Curious to see how you lifted the tape around the edges. I've had it to where the dip sticks to the tape and doesn't want to come off clean and leaves a raised edge or lifted surface which I have to cut with a razor blade. I've heard to spray the middle and leave the edges for last then remove tape soon after while still wet.

I was planning to dip my non scooped hood just a little in the center just for the hell of it.

The job was pretty easy. You’ll need some knife less tape, 3M exterior masking tape, and one can of plasti-dip. First, use the knife less tape to lay out your pattern. This is the hardest step - take your time and get it perfect. Next, put the exterior masking tape (painerts tape can tear and doesn’t cut as nice as exterior masking tape) over the knife less tape. Now, pull the thread from the knife less tape to make a clean cut. Finally, tape and newspaper off for overspray and spray away. Tips: First coat go light. The next two coats go on very heavy (a heat gun is helpful.) This helps eliminate the “textured” look you can sometimes get from plasti-dip. Very important: Immediately after applying third coat, remove the masking tape slowly. This will give you a clean texture free line. Here are some pictures I took when doing my ‘17 Corvette Grand Sport:

How much wait time between coats? As per the directions on the spraycan or do you just kind of give it a few minutes while blasting with the heat gun?

I'm having trouble understanding how pulling the tape on the 3rd coat when its still wet won't disrupt the previous coats that are more dry.

I put all three coats on within half an hour. The first coat doesn’t really matter because it’s only a light coat. The second coat apply heavy then hit it with the heat gun to speed up the drying process and develop a thin “skin.” The third and final coat goes on heavy, too. This coat will re-liquefy the second coat. Do not apply the heat gun at this point. Carefully and slowly, remove the masking tape pulling up and away. Once the masking tape is removed, hit the area lightly with the heat gun. All you’re trying to do is prevent the plasti-dip from running. Do not, do not touch any part of the plasti-dip for 24 hours. When it drys, it will freak you out. Don’t worry, the plasti-dip will level it’s self out and dry evenly. Once completely dry, if you still have a small amount of texture, lightly rub some polishing cream on and it will look like glass. If you still have texture, you put the plasti-dip on to light and you’ll have to start over. Good luck.

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. I'm actually totally fine with a textured look (already did my grill) and am thinking about derping the front part of my hood to add a bit of rock chip protection. Do you think if I put on 5-6 coats that I will still be able to remove the masking tape successfully without raised edges?

5-6 coats, in my opinion, is overkill and a waste of money. One light coat and two heavy coats peels of nicely, if needed.
