    Hey guys,

As some of you know I have been having some issues with my SR5. The transmission seems to shift harsh sluggishly and the downshifts are off too. Been though the ECU update, multiple dealer visits since Jan 15 and some Toyota Corporate phone calls.

Reached out to the GM as a last effort to see if it's just my truck or if they are all like this and he offered to have me try a different truck (another leftover 2017). They gave me this DCLB Sport. Yeah we haven't talked numbers yet but it's going to hurt. I think they have some DCLB SR5s too in the back that were 2018s but they said they just arrived and couldn't be driven yet.

I've only had it for a hour or so but so far...the ride quality is a lot better even though this isn't an OR with the upgraded suspension. I guess that's the long wheel base? My SR5 felt like I was driven through the Amazon on even the mildly bumpy roads.

The shifting is slightly similar to my SR5 but not as obviously long/hard. The downshifts so far have been way smoother than my truck too. There is no feeling of being pushed forwarded after decelerating to a stop from high speeds like I get with my SR5 (which two dealer service managers said they couldn't reproduce).

I'm going to drive it around for the next few hours and see it's actually better or if it's just shinier and more expensive.

They only had DCLB in 2018s (which will cost more) and I found the box kinda short. No ACs though.

Kinda sucks cause they made money on your first sale and now they make more because your not happy. They should give you a killer deal. Or give you the 5year/160K km platinum warranty for free, something to help you out.
I might be tempted to wait till 2019 to see what comes out for models

GM said he will do the absolute best deal he can. Who knows what that means though. My original deal was fine! I had no issues with the payments but it was an AC and I think they deal more on those, hoping some of those savings will translate over. But they know I've been having a hard time the last two months plus my mom bought a Corolla from them last week so they know I'm not some jackass. Seems like they want me to be satisfied.

This truck is also a leftover '17 (they two other leftovers in Cement and Red too, same as this one). Hopefully that will work to my benefit but obviously the payment is going up.

For $180, have you considered the shift sense pro; if the transmission shifting us your only complaint.

If you are not happy with your original truck and legitimately feel like it's not right (especially after test riding a similar truck) why settle? Fight for it to be fixed!

Don't get suckered into buying a new one.

Whatever they have on the lot at the time is what they are going to give you the best deal on. If they have to allocate a truck for you, you won't get as good of a deal.

Everyday they have that truck on the lot it costs them money - which is likely why they are pushing a '17 on you as it is a leftover.

That's cool that the one you are testing is better, if the leftover 2017 is Cement then it has to be a Pro, see if they will deal on it.

Maybe not cement then because it' a sport. Its not magnetic grey so the other grey?

I could be wrong the drivers seat goes back way more in than in my access cab. Feels like more leg room too.

Keep in mind that the new truck could feel better because the transmission learning has not started/completed yet, and it's already been completed on your old truck.

Many people report a new truck to feel much better until the learning starts.

No you have it backward for his case, the truck he currently owns shifts badly and the brand new one he is testing right now feels much better

That's what I'm saying, the old truck already completed the transmission learning and bogged it down, while the new one hasn't and thus feels better.

Edited post to make it a bit clearer.

You should probably clarify with OP that he thought his old truck once was nice and then turned crappy. Most people report the exact opposite. They hated it at first and then over time, they began to love it.

Lots of people here speculating. I would wait to hear out the dealers available deal and you could also talk to toyota about "assisting" in moving you out of your old truck
