My 17 Tacoma Limited noticeably clunks with every dip in the road, after two attempts, the dealer traced it to the upper control arms, the dealer said Toyota says its normal! Along with the stall/hesitation off the line, again, Toyota says this is also "normal". So, is there fix for either?

If it's normal you're SOL. More than likely its not but they 1( don't care till it happens to more people 2 ( get an engineer involved 3 ( it's in the works and you'll be waiting awhile.

Welcome to the forum. Your dealer is full of bull crap, if you don’t have another dealer close by to try, start a case with Toyota corporate.

Can't help you with the clunk.

There could be many reasons for the hesitation off the line, but also realize there are several TW members that have mentioned the same symptoms (not that TW complaints represent the general 3rd gen population in the wild - HiPSi that's for you).

If you are referring to this scenario: Just get the truck moving, need some power to get through an intersection etc and stab the throttle - and then the truck does nothing for a second or two before deciding to go...
I can tell you that OVtune has solved that issue for myself and others. That's not bench racing, check out the OVtune threads if you are curious. Be aware that although the tune is already a great product, it is still a work in progress and comes with a ~$800 price tag. It's up to you of course, try and get it resolved with Toyota if you can. There is a solution for this and other driveability issues though, that's all I'm saying.

There's nothing normal about a stall on this or any other vehicle. A clunk once in a blue moon I'll buy.
Please do yourself a big favor and run from that dealer and search, search, search for a different one with good reviews.

Your stall can be cause by many things and I would look for the usual suspects such as loose air intake hose clamps (2) a loose air filter housing cover, a dirty or defective maf sensor and yet another defective cps sensor with no codes.

Please do keep us abreast of a positive outcome as this may help other members nip a similar issue

    Best of luck
    Cheers!
