What's the best way to clean/wash a greasy hat? I've tried the washing machine, soaking in shampoo, soaking in laundry detergent, etc. I work in a lab so I'm thinking about trying an ultrasonic bath. If I do try the ultrasonic bath, I'll post up before and after photos.

I doubt ultrasonics will do any good. Try some lift off spot rug cleaner by blue magic and get a small stiff brush

Top rack on dishwasher. Not too hot though, or you'll take the color out of the hat.

Never tried it myself but I've heard adding a can of Coke to the wash will help get the grease out.

    What's it greasy with?
I usually wash my hats with shampoo and it works to get my pomade (beeswax base) out with a little scrubbing. If its something heavier like axle grease, you could try the old Coca-Cola soak.

    Some hats have sentimental value.

I'd be hesitant to use a strong degreaser. Once you start sweating you could draw out any remnants of the chemicals in the fabric and it could burn your scalp. Just saying. Simple green might be the strongest thing I'd use. Other than that, the hat stays dirty or toss it.

Whatever,.... then don't wear it, hang it on the wall. Hat's are cheap, unless it's leather. I wear beanies, just throw it in the wash or away. Just me though.

Every hat I have ever tried to wash that isn't made of plastic ends up shrinking.

I just hang them in wind for a few days...
