Hi I have a 2009 v6 4.0 with exhaust cold air intake and some real meaty 35’s and want to know if my truck could pull a 23ft boat? The boat weighs 2700 dry weight with trailer like 4000 and with engine close to like 4300lbs or so just wanna make sure I’ll be ok putting I.t in at ramps

If youre running stock gears and 35s im guessing the truck will struggle a little bit, but if you leave it in 4th (assuming its an automatic), i think it should pull it just fine. If you have a 6spd, id venture to say you wont have an issue since its geared a little lower and theyre more big tire freindly

I think you'll be okay, just take it easy and don't try to drive like a speed demon. if it starts hunting a lot, I would even drop it into 3rd so that you don't cause the tranny to start heating up too much. Does your truck have the tow package? and do you have any way like a scan gauge or ultragauge to monitor trans temps? the tranny heating up would be the only thing id be concerned with. That, and giving yourself extra time to stop. Does the boat trailer have brakes? that is something else to consider when towing that much weight

I tow a 3000 lb sail boat with a 1400 lb dual axel trailer. No lift, base model, stock tires. Trailer has breaks on all four wheels. Just 40 mi. to my lake, with rolling hills, keep it in forth except for long downhills. No problems. I go alot deeper in the water than powerboats at the ramps and have no trouble. Trailer brakes and duel axle are the best insurance for towing success .

If you add another light bar up front, you should be able to tow it.

That’s 7klbs dry. I believe OEM is rated at 6500 pounds. That’s not including the tires/wheels/lift.

97' ski supreme, weight with trailer was just over 3200#.

If your towing 4300# you better make damn sure you have trailer brakes to stop that load.

The truck is rated for 6500 lbs with 3.73 gears. With those tires he effectively has 3.20 gears. That engine is working hard with no load behind it. I think it will safely pull the load, but I'd not be happy with the performance.

Will it tow it? Yes. Will it like it? No. Your gas mileage is going to suck dead wombats.

Putting it in/pulling the boat out at the ramp shouldn't be an issue....just use 4 low pulling it out if needed. The problems you'll have will be getting it to the ramp with stock gearing and 35s. You will want to keep a close eye on transmission temps...I'm pretty sure you'll overheat the transmission if you are in the mountains.

My travel trailer is about 4,500 lbs dry weight and my truck works towing it with 265/75/16s...I held off on going up to 255 until I regear because I don't think the Taco is up for spinning larger, heavier tires while towing.
