i am in dilemma is to go route of full bumper replacement or go with something alternative, found this from wilco looks interesting but was wondering if anyone has this on their 3rd tacomas and if they like it or not

if you have it post pics if you can, and any pro's or cons for doing this.

The loss of the tailgate makes it a nonstarter IMO.

Pros? You can mount a fullsize spare and some roto packs right to your truck. Also a pretty easy spot to mount backup/ditch lights. (since you won't be folding the gate down anymore they probably wouldn't get in the way)

Cons? You lose your backup camera and you can no longer sit on your tailgate.

I've considered it, but I really don't want to have to do a backup camera reroute. I believe taco smitty has one of the older models on his 2nd gen. I think they look badass.

have one on my 2nd gen. i like it. the loss of the tailgate hasnt made any difference to me (mine was rear ended). i wanted somewhere for my 35 spare and it solves the problem easily.

it means i cant load my bikes anymore but i bought a trailer with no regrets.

There are a few spare tire-mounted backup camera solutions for Jeeps. I’ll bet some would be compatible with Toyota equipment.

Seems like not to popular of item, but looks bad ass, i dont care about tail gate as to me for my setup of overland dont care much for it, and looks like camera with pilfrey adaptor can be relocated. gona check out the posts, wonder if any 3rd gen run it too.

For the price, I would not consider it. 1400 bucks and loosing the ability to use the tail gate is a deal breaker for me. I would love a rear rear bumper with swing out, but man, they are pricey....One day.

As an over-lander, the use of the tailgate should be pretty high, at lest for me it is.

yea pricing is bit nuts, considering same one for tundra is only 800 bucks seems odd that tacoma version would be different than tundra, and tacoma 2nd gen is 900.

true, but for me i have custom made sliding system with table and everything so tail gate actually gets in way sometimes though nice for space to prep food on, but few minor mods i can get away without having it.

You could easily make a fold down table on the inside of the tire gate
