It’s a fair question. Shit happens and then you move on. Look at it this way, now you shouldn’t be afraid to scratch it anymore :D

They should be more careful with their customer's $40K trucks. And all of these things have backup cams too so there really isn't much of an answer for "why" other than negligence and carelessness. Not what you want from your service guys.

It is sad, some businesses are in it for the money only and don't care about the customers.

In a lot of states having a hitch in the reciever when you are not actively towing is illegal. So its a liability if someone backs into you in a parkinglot for example, you can be found at fault for the accident.

Plus it acts as a wedge and increases the chances you will total the truck by bending the frame in a rear end accident.

Also hitches rust and make your truck look like white trash.

No mods... Hankook DynaProATMs, TRD shifter handle, Husky floor liners.
Letting them take care of it is the right thing to do. And keep going back to them as a show of good faith. They will make it right. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose in this situation. You’re doing ok! Accidents happen.

Ask for a new Tundra for your pain and suffering. Get a high priced lawyer and sue the company that makes those poles

Personally I think the Op is owed something. At the least a bed mat or something else they can add for a hundred or two (your cost). You took it in because the BSM isn't working and he ran it into a pole? They owe you something just for the irony factor. Not much, but you'd think they would try to redeem themselves because they look like complete idiots.

Obviously they have to fix the damage. If it was me and they didn't just offer something, I wouldn't ask for anything directly. If they didn't offer anything up I'd give them a shitty review on the next opinion survey I got from Toyota and explain exactly why I gave them that review. I wouldn't embellish. There is no reason to here.

They know that's coming and should work to head it off if they care about you as a customer. Again, it doesn't have to be a lot, but yeah, they owe you something for your time and effort to resolve it, and the irony.

That's not an accident....this is an accident :p

I think what you are getting is fair personally. The only additional inconvenience that I can see is that the truck is at the dealership slightly longer than it would have been to replace the sensors. You have a loner, not like you can't still get around.

Be careful with the "here is a 2018 TRD Sport for you to drive while we fix your truck".... followed up by "So, how did you like that 2018?"

I doubt that a parking lot incident will show up on Car Fax.

    Exactly.

Same exact damn thing happened to my wife's 30 day old Honda Pilot. I was pissed but calm, dealership provided rental and repaired as good as new. Didnt even hit the Carfax report which was my biggest concern. Got everything in writing from the owner, salesperson and service advisor.

World doesn't work like that. They will make you whole at their expense. Bumper, labor, done.

I don't think anyone was suggesting he smile or be happy, just get it fixed, and move on. It was a plastic bumper cap! Life's too short to dwell on stuff like this.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
    I would to love to
leave something like this -- or even my hitch bar --hanging out of my truck!
Problem is, when I do this I wind up bashing my shin on it! Then when cussing myself --I ask "why did I leave that thing sticking out"?

Nah man, you can try to make thing whole, but the bumper isn’t original anymore. So the truck isn’t the same. There should be compensation. Also, the OP’s time as well of having to go back and forth to the dealer is worth something.

How about if someone made a mistake and slept with your wife while drunk? If they return her whole, does that work for you?
