Looking to install seat heaters in my tacoma. I have cloth seats with seat covers that are kinda like the carhartt seat covers. Same material. Anyways I'm looking for ay recommendations or personal stories of the best ones I can get for not too expensive. And if I should install them under the factory seats, or the seat covers I have. Thanks guys.

I ordered this set from Amazon. The reviews were good and they seemed reasonably priced. I just got my Clazzio seat covers in the mail today so I'll be installing them tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

I bought the heated seats from e bay, it was from Motosupply, it cost 70ish for the two front seats, I installed them and they worked great, for the first three times I used them, and then the driver side stopped working, Ive been trying to contact the manu. waiting on a reply. before it stopped working they worked great, got nice and hot. the lights come on but no ones home. lol

Iirc, they didn't have an auto off or it wasn't working properly but got too hot and caught fire. @YamaDirtrider can you help with specifics?

I have some heaters I got off Amazon.
I also have Clazzio leather seat covers.
The heaters are mounted ontop of my factory cloth seats.
I can feel them nicely on hi, not as much on low.

Do you find an extra workload on your alternator?

    What hasn't been modified?
He was using them and got stuck in the snow. While he was outside diging he left them on so when he jumped in to war up it was faster. Well aparently they sat on for too long and either cought the seat on fire or shorted out and caught fire. @aero3685 would have to confirm which one since I don’t remember ever hearing which reason

Well now i know that oem and quality ones have an auto shutoff either for time or temperature. I didn't mean to have them on for so long... But at the time i forgot about it and left it on.

Pos ones don't have the same shutoff but these were left on for 3+ hours straight. I was frozen/bundled up at this point due to cold weather so don't know if they were physically hotter than normal before they malfunctioned.

Long story short.... Getting better ones up front is the best option. Buy once, cry once. At this point, saving a hundred bucks up front has cost me ~$6k and increasing monthly with insurance increases.
